Is this normal for Presidential addresses? That sounds very religious and out of place in these secular times, it was probably my biggest shock reading through it.

I took that as the historical formula of executive order ... as phrases like that were common in the earlier days of the U.S.  But then I wonder if Obama would have kept the phrase.

Especially since it underlines the fact that the "common era" is based around the birth of Jesus Christ.
Muslims (including Obama) consider the birth of Mohammad to be their calendar reset date, which is why their current year is about 700 years off from ours.

Trump is basically the United States equivalent of Putin -- keeping in mind that Putin kicked out their central bank (a fact which seems unbelievable, but I've heard it multiple times)

In both cases, you have a man of the world who happens to have a strong natural love for his own country. He is biased towards his country, rather than some globalist agenda, conspiracy, or organization.

True, they both could be better (read: Catholic), but in today's crazy world, just having a president who loves and prioritizes the good of his own country is a huge breath of fresh air.

Today. September 2, 2018, is the 159th anniversary of the Carrington Event (see story below).

159 YEARS AGO, A GEOMAGNETIC MEGA-STORM: Picture this: A billion-ton coronal mass ejection (CME) slams into Earth's magnetic field. Campers in the Rocky Mountains wake up in the middle of the night, thinking that the glow they see is sunrise. No, it's the Northern Lights. People in Cuba read their morning paper by the red illumination of aurora borealis. Earth is peppered by particles so energetic, they alter the chemistry of polar ice.

Hard to believe? It really happened--exactly 159 years ago. This map shows where auroras were sighted in the early hours of Sept. 2, 1859:



As the day unfolded, the gathering storm electrified telegraph lines, shocking technicians and setting their telegraph papers on fire. The "Victorian Internet" was knocked offline. Magnetometers around the world recorded strong disturbances in the planetary magnetic field for more than a week.

The cause of all this was an extraordinary solar flare witnessed the day before by British astronomer Richard Carrington. His sighting on Sept. 1, 1859, marked the discovery of solar flares and foreshadowed a new field of study: space weather. According to a NASA-funded study by the National Academy of Sciences, if a similar storm occurred today, it could cause a trillion dollars in damage to society's high-tech infrastructure and require years for complete recovery.

In fact, a similar flare did occur only 6 years ago. On July 23, 2012, a CME of rare power rocketed away from the sun. The storm was in many respects as strong as the 1859 Carrington event. Fortunately, it missed. The July 2012 event serves as a reminder that extreme space weather is not a thing of the past.
