Yes, their story was removed and may be still floating around the web. They backed away, which may mean their info was incorrect, or something else.
As of now, we have only circuмstantial evidence.
And I think the "fire" is a coverup.

Not so!  This topic's "story",  is actually "Report: American Submarine Torpedoed and sunk off Alaska Coast"[*].  It's way too soon for members posting replies to have lost track of that: It's only been 1 week since the original posting.  I'm still waiting to see convincing proof for that alarming claim.  If such proof is never provided, then it's completely reasonable for this topic to just fade away.
