So you're saying those things are flying around with geiger counters or something? I don't know about that idea. If those drones are flying around with radiation-detecting devices, wouldn't it make more sense to just put those same devices in cars and have them drive around on the street looking for the radioactive stuff? That wouldn't attract any attention. Also, I don't think they would need car-sized drones to carry geiger counters around.

AGREEMENT STATE REPORT - SOURCE LOST IN TRANSIT
The following information was provided by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) via email:
"The licensee reported to NJDEP on December 3, 2024, that a Ge-68 pin source that they sent for disposal has been lost in transit on December 2, 2024. The source is a Eckert & Ziegler model HEGL-0132, with current approximate activity of 0.267 mCi. The shipping container arrived at its destination damaged and empty. The licensee has filed a claim with the shipper. If the source is not located within the 30 days, the licensee will follow-up with a full written report to include root cause(s) and corrective actions.
"This event is reportable under 10 CFR 20.2201(a)(1)(ii)."

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has confirmed the loss of radioactive material during shipping earlier this month, raising public safety concerns and fueling speculation about a connection to recent drone sightings in New Jersey.

While classified as “Less than IAEA Category 3,” the radioactive source still poses potential risks if mishandled or exposed for extended periods.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) confirmed the incident and stated that if the material is not located within 30 days, the licensee will submit a full report detailing root causes and corrective actions.

John Ferguson, CEO of Saxon Aerospace LLC and an expert in unmanned aerial systems, provided a chilling theory. Ferguson also linked the drone sightings to a broader security concern: the disappearance of over 80 nuclear warheads from Ukraine after the Soviet Union’s collapse. He recounted a conversation with a government insider who claimed to have physically handled one of these missing warheads, warning it may have been headed toward the U.S. “That is a very serious deal,” Ferguson said, adding that past warnings about the warhead were ignored by authorities.
While Ferguson’s claims remain unverified, they highlight the mounting tension surrounding both the missing radioactive material and drone activity.
New Jersey has seen a wave of mysterious drone sightings, including near sensitive locations like Picatinny Arsenal, a military research facility. That may be true, but medical waste is usually not radioactive. To say it’s out in the ocean somewhere and causing people’s hair to fall out? I can think of nothing from a medical facility that would have enough radiation to do that? One would need to have rather close contact with even a CAT scanner or PET scanner, like climbing on it or pulling it aboard a boat. It’s possible if the machine washed ashore or if someone foolishly disassembled it and broke open the sealed radioactive canister. Even then, it wouldn’t harm random people who were nowhere near it. There was an incident in Mexico or maybe Central America back in the 1980’s where a hospital brought some type of scanner to a metal salvage yard and a man purchased a metal canister. He didn’t know what it was, but he was intrigued when he realized it was generating heat at night. He and several fellows used it for a heater and slept overnight in a small room with it. The next day, he managed with much effort to open it. Inside was some sort of glowing powder. Having no idea of what it was, he brought it home and his wife and daughter put it in their hair and on their clothes, and in a bathtub like bubble bath. It didn’t bubble, but made the tub glow in the dark along with the hair and clothing.
Sadly, the man, his wife, and his daughter got radiation sickness and died. The other men who slept in the shed survived, but suffered from radiation sickness, lost their hair, had burns, heart, gastric trouble, different cancers. One man who’d used it to warm his feet ended up having one amputated and lost all his toes on the other.
The hospital got in big trouble for negligence and improper disposal. Still, the only people affected were those who had close contact. The neighbors to the radioactive family were all tested and the levels were normal. Apparently, the hospital thought they’d save some money by bringing it in several pieces to the scrap yard instead of contacting the company that made it to come and dispose of it safely…for a fee.
Had they left the canister sealed shut, nobody need have died.
Drones have appeared in more places than over the northeast. They’ve been reported in the west, in Texas, and over Los Vegas.
I think they are our military conducting some sort of experimental high tech weapons or surveillance. All I know is if I see one buzzing around my home at low altitude, it’s time for a little target practice. No, only kidding. They’re too big to shoot down. I guess I’d better stick to the range.:cowboy:
