It will be instructive to see how (((European))) gun control affects the next stage.
It is rarely mentioned that the WW2 experience of Europe prompted some Europeans to hide weapons picked up on the battlefields. While the WW2 generation is mostly gone, certainly some of those weapons have been handed down. Notwithstanding the claims of virtually non-existent gun ownership in Europe, likely ownership in some nations (e.g., Germany) may be 10%±.
That said, the larger paradigm is the intended one, primarily .gov and criminals/subversives will be the ones armed, hence the disproportion of Molotov cocktails over firearms there.
I think that the high rates of US gun ownership will see a quantitatively different scenario here. Certainly the cartels and Israelis and jihadists have smuggled crew-served weapons and shoulder-fired missiles into the USA. Unlike in Europe, in the USA there will be many traditional Americans capable of long distance precision that will allow "us" to do our own useful battlefield pickups of those imported weapons.
