  • To manifest his support for the Middle East’s persecuted Christians, the bishop of Leiria-Fátima, Portugal, has announced that the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be making a pilgrimage to Damascus on September 7.

Urging the UN and the EU not to abandon the “victims of intolerance and fundamentalism,” Bishop António Augusto dos Santos Marto said that he wished “to respond to the appeal of the bishops of the Middle East, witnesses of the extermination of the Christians in the face of the indifference of the international community.”
