  • China has decided to end its decades-long one-child policy, the state-run Xinhua news agency reports.

Couples will now be allowed to have two children, it said, citing a statement from the Communist Party.

The controversial policy was introduced nationally in 1979, to slow the population growth rate.

It is estimated to have prevented about 400 million births. However concerns at China's ageing population led to pressure for change.

Couples who violated the one-child policy faced a variety of punishments, from fines and the loss of employment to forced abortions.

  • Thousands of reports of chinese people eating babies and foetuses, regulations of every kind, children brainwash by state school [no homeschooling or Catholic school], controlled population, work 12/h day for a meal... the wonders of marxism-leninsm that Sweden, Germany, Norway, Canada etc  liberals want to import

God will judge these westerns who instead of fighting against evil and helping those living in these areas are welcoming the Devil with doors wide open.

Who supported Mao Tse-Tung [responsible for at least 40 million deaths]? Stalin

Now China has a Two Child Policy.  Does that make it 50% less immoral?

  • It had to end someday. With China rapidly growing into a market economy with a need for a workforce, having half the country be retired is not feasible. So, this is effectively a way to make more workers.

  • It's a Communist control thing. Sure, they've relaxed the policy a little, but that does not mean they will never bring it back again in the future if things will still be the way are in the future in China. The same I think may even go for Russia. It is also like the anticlerical laws in Mexico that are just simply relaxed or not enforced. If there was to arise anything against the system at some point, then the system will react as it has always done in the past through indoctrination and sinful violence.
