I've seen the footage.  Pure evil.

Centro, please, get the hell out of there NOW.  Run for your life.

I fear Brazil is going to turn into a Venezuela shithole.  You've got to get somewhere else.  Are you able to leave the country?

I plan to leave for good next month. Hopefully public transportation will be back up and running by then. I'm safe where I'm at for now.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

Good.  Exercise EXTREME caution.  Usually tragedy occurs when you are unguarded, unaware, and taking a situation for granted.

Honestly I wish you were getting out of there faster.  But things seem pretty hot right now.  I wonder if your society will last as long as next month.  Hopefully I'm just being pessimistic.

I dread America turning into this.  But it will.

We're prepared for the worse. The local native-indian population took advantage of the situation and started blocking the highways to disrupt transit to protest some insatisfaction they had. The grocery stores in those small coastal cities nearby were first looted and then not restocked due to the various circuмstances. We stocked up on non-perishable items like rice and beans and use a gas stove in case the electricty is cut. During the day, there is normal movement for now in the downtown area of my city, but at 5 o'clock everything is shut down and nobody leaves their homes. There have been violent situations and shoot outs and plenty of crime in the neighborhoods near me, but my location is extremely safe and we have walls and gates around our homes to keep anyone from getting in that shouldn't.

  • I guess someone made a whole playlist of the madness that was recorded. Of course, some of the worse videos were taken down already.

Have you been able to obtain legal residence for your wife to the USA so that you may remain permanently here?

Ohh yes it will eventually... but at least, for the time being, we can make an effort to defend ourselves and our families if we wish.

  • Some time ago there were comments (on another thread) to the effect that "civilians don't need AR-15s", because they're "military weapons."

I'm sure there are many in Brazil who would sell everything they owned to have one right now.

Prayers for all concerned.  I hope things quiet down as soon as possible.

Hmm... can't quite think what you may referring to, but this quote comes to mind....

Well of course they don't need AR- 15s, they need RPGs!

    Excellent point.

JezusDeKoning, do you think that Centroamerica should not have an AR-15 right now?

  • That's for the United States.

Brazil is SUCH an unpredictable country. One state can be middle-class neighborhoods and good schools while just an hour away elsewhere, it's anarchical. I'm not against them per se. As someone who generally is distrustful of people, I'm more of an "eh". If you're not a proven terrorist, have at it.

Of course I would like to have an AR-15. Who wouldn't?

Let me just clarify that it is correct that there are many places that are nice neighborhoods with nice schools. Ok. If you watched that play list, you would you notice that the majority of crimes and murders happened in Vila Velha, the nicest place in my state. Don't be mistaken. The criminals know where to go. The neighborhoods that were no too poor or too rich did not have much of a problem.

Watch this video and tell me if you think that I might need an AR-15. This was recorded today from Serra, ES, the neighborhood I pass through to get to Mass or the airport. Brazilians have taken it upon themselves to report, and sometimes those reports are coming from the criminals themselves.

    Viewer discretion is advised.

For me, the answer is obvious.  You require an AR-15

  • Centroamerica,
have you seen any improvements in the situation were you live?

Just read this article from Reuters suggesting that things are improving.
