Actually, they have been averaging 2-3 videos a month for a while now so this is not related to the election, but the steady stream we have become accostumed. No way near by comparaison to 2004's election video, the last appearance from UBL.

The fact it's from al Libi - an important preacher and recruiter - but certainly not who you'd think they would parade prior to the election. I expect another one, before Tuesday.

If none come, it might be a show of weakness and would give credance to the information that Pakistan Intelligence might have Zawahiri boxed in.

This latest one is addressing specifically Sunni Jihadist. Not Americans at all. It's to shore up the base and fundraising.

Think I missed the spirit of your question.

Most video's or tapes don't address American's directly. In fact, those addressed specifically to Americans are rather rare.

Al Qaeda is struggling to remain relevant and it's seeing it's Shia counterpart (Hezbollah-Syria-Iran-Irak Axis) scoring successes and grow in influance. Those video are meant to reassure and fireup the Sunni militants.

It's quite typical of many American to think that everything is about them.
