I read today that a bunch of Gbagbo's supporters fled to a Catholic church.  Tips you off that something is going on here.

So, it's not a cινιℓ ωαr - really it's a religious war. No surprise, I'm sure. Just truly sad.

I hate to disagree, but it may not necessarily be religious. Many many times in Africa, especially along the 10th parallel there an other places in most of the world Christianity and Islam collide. Many times, for geopolitical and environmental reasons, the groups who clash for control clash for those issues- not religion. But it is religion which many of their leaders use to advance their political ideals and to create stir amongst their troops.

Gbagbo's ambition isn't the point, s2srea.  The point is that the whore of a Republic that calls itself France and the UN are creating WAR to install someone who is their guy as President.  These are supposedly "peacekeepers."  War is peace, though, isn't it, as we learned from Orwell.

The Guardian said:

"The negotiations came after a dramatic 24 hours in Ivory Coast.  On Monday night, UN and French forces opened fire with attack helicopters on Gbagbo's arms stockpiles and bases. Earlier, columns of foot soldiers allied to Ouattara finally pierced the city limits of Abidjan.

Gbagbo's spokesman, Ahoua Don Mello, told Reuters there were "direct negotiations based on African Union (AU) recommendations which said Alassane Ouattara is president. They are also negotiating judicial and security conditions for Gbagbo's camp and his relatives."

Last night, Gbagbo told French television his commanders were negotiating for a ceasefire. He also criticised France for intervening in Ivory Coast. "I don't understand how an electoral dispute in Ivory Coast has brought about the direct intervention of the French army," he said.

Whether he's a power-mad dictator or not... Neither do I.  Oh, yes I do, this is all business as usual for the UN, fomenting chaos.

A quick favor...

My sister is going to Tanzania in a few weeks (for at least two years), and my brother is in Saudi Arabia (for the next two years).  Please pray for them both :)
