    • Whether the EU is a sleeping giant or not, I dont know. That depends on how they plan to use their military. I do know that the EU, if taken as if it were one state, is a super power. It is currently integrating the states more and more every day, with the intention of creating a united states of Europe. It would be a good thing if the governments were not so evil. But they will fall under China's influence economically and will be forced to be more passive in international affairs.

    You buy 1 fighter jet for 20 million dollars- guess what, you never see that 20 million dollars again. Multiply that by 300, 400, 500.

    Buy a bullet and shoot it, never see that money again.

    Please don't put words into my mouth.  I never said the United States' military spending was a good thing, or even suggested as much.

    You asked whether the EU was a "sleeping giant," because of the level of military spending of four of its member states.  I was simply putting things in perspective.
