Here's an answer to one of the questions:

She mentioned the TAWS (Terrain Avoidance Warning System).  Indeed the aircraft in question had one.  But the TAWS requires a database with all the relevant airport information.  The Smolensk airbase is not included in the database, so the TAWS couldn't help them there.

So with the elite passenger list, basic security precautions were ignored?  As if Poland were some Banana Republic, and this was not the anniversary of a huge massacre of 70 years ago?

This is a huge event in history.

Were all flights cancelled when Mt. St. Helen's erupted around the Pacific NW?

Blaming the President for being foolish about landing planes was among the first clues of evildoing.  

Has anyone heard about the guy who made the film of the wreckage having been murdered?
