  • India's new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has offered a hand of friendship to his country's neighbours, including Muslim Pakistan and Bangladesh. All South Asian nations appear to be receptive to the new BJP government. Pakistan's Prime Minister has already stated that the huge amounts spent on armaments could be better used for development. Modi is a development guru but has also stated that he will endeavour to ensure that all citizens have access to proper housing and to employment. Not having any ties whatsoever to the Nehru dynasty, Modi is well poised to drastically improve relations with Pakistan and China. Already there is a growing feeling, especially in Pakistan, if media reports are to be believed, that it is Islamic terrorism that is the major, and perhaps the only threat to the region.

In foreign affairs the new government has come out quite boldly on the question of the Palestinian Unity Government. India. and also China,  issued statements of support for this new Palestinian unity government which comprises the rival factions of Hamas and Fatah.

May Divine Providence guide this new government enabling it to bring peace and happiness to it's 1.4bn citizens, as well as the hundreds of millions of it's neighbours.
