I just heard part of a speech at the Heritage Foundation talking about how unprepared the US is for an EMP to hit us and how our enemies know how unprepared we are.  They said it would put us back into the 19th Century overnight.  If the bomb hit the east coast it would knock out 70% of the US.  No cars, no lights, no heat, etc.  The speaker was Michael Maloof talking about his recent book A Nation Forsaken.

A few years ago, a congressional commission went into considerable depth on the consequences to our electricity-dependent infrastructures - not only to the power grid itself, but also to telecommunications, the banking and finance system, the transportation system that delivers our food and water and the fuel needed for our homes as well as the military systems that maintain our national security. Congress, however, has basically ignored its own commission report, wasting valuable time in confronting this critical threat.

Maloof argues that, while an electromagnetic pulse event on our civilian infrastructure could be serious, it can be managed if government at the federal, state and local levels gives appropriate priority to the preventative action that is possible to lessen the impact of an EMP event as well as to recover from it.

It's pretty readable. There isn't much the average person can do. Unless you're rural and have a subsistence farm of vegetables and animals and they graze and eat local foo(s) only that do not require longhaul trucking for delivery, you're so interdependent on electronic intrastructure you're pretty much out of luck.

You'd have to faraday 'cage' everything you wanted to remain functioning after such an event.

Maloof 's background is shaky at best, neck deep with Rumsfeld and the pro israel camp.  This info coming from him sounds like a psyop.  

Ive looked into this and it is more or less what they say: we are woefully unprepared.

EMP? The sooner the better! That's exactly what the sheeple in this country and the world need... These idolaters of modern tech, and consumers of the illusion, need to be slapped with a hard reality which might awaken them to focusing on their true selves, the Lord, their family, and community. An emp weapon would also mean no more being able to get to Mass. (And an estimated loss of 90% of the U.S. population)

Keep a battery/solar powered ham radio rig in that Faraday cage as cell phones/towers, repeaters, etc will be fried.

And worst of all - no fridge, no ice, no blenders = no Frozen Daiquiris  :faint:

Even St. Joseph took precautions when he was warned about coming disaster, he didn't dance around like a banana and say, oh what do I care, I have God right here.  

  Living in the woods I have always tried to prepare. One never knows what might happen.  There are ways to preserve what you are storing too. Lok n lok containers to store flour, sugar, brown sugar. Recently I just finished using flour I have put into a lok n lock container four years ago~ thanks to placing several bay leaves into the container the flour was just as fresh as it was when I put it in there.  Digging out a root cellar if you have the land to do so also helps preseve potatoes, apples, onions, etc.
Fortunately we have a small creek that runs through our property. And when it rains we have a few more small creeks that run through our woods. Our well is fed by an underground spring and I was shown its origin by our excavator when he dug out our basement. We primarily heat the upper level of our home with a
Soapstone Woodstove and the lower level has an Amish Cook Stove. The latter heats/cooks with wood or coal. You can bake a 25 lbs turkey in it. It has a hot water coil as well as a resvior to store hot water. The latter makes 7 gallons of hot water an hour so in 7 hours you have 49 gallons of hot water just by running your stove to cook /heat...it heats 2000 sq ft nicely.  Over the years we purchased oil lamps for our home. That started on Long Island when everytime we had a storm in the early 1970's we lost power for several hours. We continue to collect oil lamps and have one for just about every room in the  house as well as a collection of candles.  Strike anywhere matches are the best.
We do have horses. So we have transportation as well. The thing we all must remember is that we are all in Gods' Holy Hands and it is up to Him what will happen to all of us.
