In fact, this message that I'm typing can become part of such archived data, and the fact that your computer monitor displays it can become part of such data; in fact, if you are using a laptop with a camera lens that can see your face, the fact that your eyes are moving over the place where these words are on the screen can become part of such data.

The only thing they haven't figured out just yet is how to add to their database the THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND, PER SE, that is, without some external manifestation of them that is intercepted by some such device as a cell phone or an Internet computer or a security camera.

In short, the government is deciding when you and I CANNOT know things, and they are unilaterally deciding that they can violate our privacy by collecting all our personal data, which collection itself, says Mr. Snowden, is the point of violation, even while Obama and his henchmen claim that their decision later to DO something, or to LOOK at the data a certain way, is what they mean by "snooping." This means that when you hear them say that they're not going to snoop, or that "Just because we have the power to examine this data doesn't mean that we SHOULD," it has nothing to do with whether or not they will in fact examine the data.

Remember the viewing screen on the wall in Geoge Orwell's 1984, the one that showed images of other places and other times and other people on it, but it could also SEE YOU, and report those images and things you say and do to the office of Big Brother?

That viewing screen is your laptop, your iPad, and your cell phone, and it is a security monitor.

I can't see how his actions are benefiting people. Everybody that cares already knows that governments have too much power and do not respect the rights of their citizens.

I think you make a good point. For all we know he can be working for the government by leaking this information.

What good is the technology if you can't scare a majority into behaving on-line and on the phone?

Prior to Snowden, anyone who thinks knew we could be monitored. After Snowden, everyone is convinced that the government has tapped into all of our privacy.

It's the panopticon effect.

Indeed? What and whom, precisely, has Snowden betrayed? The people in the US government (and their NGO associates) who are sending white Christians off to fight wars for International Jєωry against Arabs, Muslims, and Asian tribesmen (and so on ad infinitum) whilst at the very same time these very same people continue to import literally millions of identical Arabs, Muslims, and Asian tribesmen (and so on ad infinitum) into the USA to replace the white Christian citizens of the country that you claim Snowden is betraying?

Snowden is about the thousandth whistle-blower in the past thirty years whose revelations about totalitarian intrusion into the private affairs of law-abiding citizens have been condemned both by this country's hostile elites and by brainwashed fools and overgrown children who think that no price is too high to pay for "security"—a concept that never gets properly explained, let alone defined. If ever the expression "cognitive dissonance" was applicable, it's applicable here.

If Snowden is guilty of anything, it's of requiring five or more years in relatively senior positions at the NSA to acquire a modicuм of moral sense.

He's also been set up as a saviour figure.

claudel, my initial reaction was the same as yours, but I changed my mind after listening to him speak and seeing that he's being portrayed as a rebel hero. You say that the elites have condemned him but dont be fooled. The real elites fund both sides, the side that brands him as a traitor to the United States and the side that brands him as an all-american freedom-loving hero. They manage both sides. They can use people's hatred of the government to incite civil strife that they will reap the profits of.

Snowden is another figure that is spreading the false gospel that the evil in the world comes from the upper class. It's the gospel of the Revolution.
