I admit to have not read any of the books mentioned. I only know that Martin Luther opened the pendora's box to all kinds of heresies, which heresies are essentially to justify anti-papism. The main heresy is the denial of the Blessed Virgin Mary's importance in Christianity because without Mary, there is no longer the Mystery of the Icarnation, and without this Mystery (of the Incarnation), Jesus Christ becomes "just another god". The Reformation movement was supported at the begining by German princes who wished their fiscal independance from Rome. The historical precedents came from the King of France Philip-le-Bel against the Pope Gelasius, and also from The King of England who created the Church of England.
That say, once the "pendora's box" was opened, the Jєωs capitalized on it. For example Calvin was likely a Jєω. His orignal French name was Caouin, which is a French mispronounciation of Cohen.
