In 2012, the Philippines Parliament passed a reproductive health bill that weakened the influence of the church.   The following year it was hit by a massive typhoon

Recently, the government in Illinois legalized gαy marriage and the state was hit by 16 tornadoes.

in 1588, the Spanish assembled an armada in an attempt to enforce the will of the Church and the Pope, and depose the heretic queen of England.  It was destroyed by storms.
