  • Although I denounce the bƖσσdshɛd that happened, I still believe Tibet is rightly part of China. Taiwan should be one too...

    Don't get me wrong. I'm anti-Communism.

    Why?
"In this difficult time, to be victorious, we must be steadfast using all of our strength and capabilities like brave soldiers fully armed in the battlefield ... Whatever happens, behave in such a way that God will be glorified."

  • Because it was before. It's just like in my country where the Muslims are demanding independence of Mindanao from the government.

Citing the past alone is never a good argument to make. But most  especially in this case when Tibet was taken forcefully by China in 1950.

I don't know the whole history of this complicated region but your answer seem to come up short.

  • My mistake. I'm talking about before 1950 when Tibet was part of China.

We seem mixed-up between independence and autonomy.  My comprehension is that Tibet declared it's independence in the beginning of the 1900's but it was never recognized by anyone.  On the hand, Tibet was administered with autonomy by the Dalai Lama's till 1950 when China rolled over it militarily, forcing the governement in exile.

Anyhow, I have no opinion on this complicated matter other then I do have some sympathy for the interesting personality that is the current dalai lama whom I consider one of the most charismatic and intelligent public religious figure (on par with Demond Tutu)...  I also do like Tibet food, which I had the occasion to eat quite often during a period of time.

  • I would not put Desmond Tutu on a par with the Dalai Lama. For example, the Dalai Lama teaches that ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity is a sin whereas Desmond Tutu seems to teach something else.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7100295.stm

Desmond Tutu criticises the Anglican Church and its leadership for its attitudes towards ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4, he said the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, had failed to demonstrate that God is "welcoming".

He also repeated accusations that the Church is "obsessed" with the issue of gαy priests.

God must be weeping looking at some of the atrocities that we commit against one another.
In the face of all of that, our Church, especially the Anglican Church, at this time is almost obsessed with questions of human sɛҳuąƖity.

Criticising Dr Williams, he said: "Why doesn't he demonstrate a particular attribute of God's which is that God is a welcoming God.

If God, as they say, is homophobic, I wouldn't worship that God.

In the interview, Archbishop Tutu also rebuked religious conservatives who said ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity was a choice.

It is a perversion if you say to me that a person chooses to be ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ.
You must be crazy to choose a way of life that exposes you to a kind of hatred. It's like saying you choose to be black in a race-infected society.

  • Thank you Marasmius.

I only expressed that they are, in my opinion, both of comparable public stature, which does not mean I agree with everything the Dalai Lama or Desmond Tutu ever said on the record.
