I'd paste the article, but there are too many links.

But obviously MI5 is lying.  Iran being Shiite and AlQaeda being Sunni hate each other.

It's true... but that's just the ABC's.. the very minimum you can know about the subject.  It's not so clear as you say that the story is not credible.

What is being harped on is a threat assesment.  Intelligence, and intelligence is never clear cut or meant to be taken as something solid or defenitive.  It's constantly delving in shades of gray.

More interesting is the speculation on who leaked the report and with what intention.  Calling it a lie misses the point entirely and only satisfy the seemingly unsatiable appetite to undermine institutions.

For instance, an ABC's analysis of American politics would squarely pit the Republican's against Ralph Nader.  The policy direction and goals of both platform run counter in just about every way that it can be conceived.   An uninformed observer would say they hate each other and would never cooperate on anything.

However, the Republican's still in some ways supported Ralph Nader knowing full well that he takes votes away from Democrats primarily.

I do not know yet, and perhaps will never know if this threat assessment has any legs.  What I do know, is that the article exploit the little knowledge that people have to promote their own political agenda.
