  • AT LEAST 60 people have been killed and 100 more injured in the southern French city of Nice tonight after a lorry was "deliberately driven" into a crowd out celebrating Bastille Day in a confirmed terrorist attack.

French officials have confirmed that they are investigasting a terrorist attack and there are unconfirmed reports that there are gunmen on the loose in the city.

It is thought that police officers desperately fired on the truck as it was "deliberately driven" for more than 100 metres at people leaving a major bank holiday fireworks celebration.

Witnesses said the truck picked up speed and "rammed" the crowd where it was thickest at more than 30mph, and images emerged of the cab riddled with bullets. One said he saw the driver emerge with a gun after the truck came to a halt and begin shooting at the fleeing crowd.

Police have identified the driver, who was killed during the incident, and it is believed to have been a man who was known to security services. Separate reports emerged tonight that police fear four different trucks are involved, raising fears of a massive organised terror attack.

I feel so sad for these ordinary people that go about living their ordinary lives that are being destroyed by thoughtless individuals wanting power. It is a result of two sides who really do not feel compassion for all these real hard working ordinary people who rely on the authorities to keep them safe. It is nothing to do with religion it is to do with power and domination with no thought for life. My heart goes out to all the families in France and other areas affected by these hideous crimes.

How many of us have to die, blown up or shot to satisfy the liberal leftists who won't even mention the word Muslim in the media. We are just so sick of our political leaders, we want change and we aren't seeing it yet...... This is why we voted Brexit.

Hopefully Marine Le Pen will come to power in France and bring about some change in France. Condolences to all those who have suffered losses in Nice....so sad.

The blatant racism and Islamophobia being shown on dispay in these comments is seriously stomach-churning. Yes it was a terrorist attack -- but do they even KNOW if the driver was a Muslim?

How to be an EU Leader

Step 1. Invite terrorists into your country
Step 2. Stand around scratching your head confused as to why terrorist attacks are happening in your country
Step 3. Invite more terrorists into your country to show how tolerant and unracist you are

Um actually, yes it is. How do you think the first generation got there?

Muslims, be they first generation immigrants or "French" citizens by birth or naturalization, will always be invaders and a pox on France. They incubated this disease, justified it to each other, supported it and covered for it.

More than just expulsion of the immigrants is needed though, you're right. Expulsion of muslims born there, converted, and their liberal enablers must happen too, otherwise it's more and more of this sort of evil, until we finally wise up.

Money should go into rounding up and deporting, and funding refugee camps in their home countries as well as fixing the problems that brought the masses to western Europe in the first place.

The TRUMP is right. All these muslimes must be stopped from entering Europe/The West. They are coming to kill us . Those that are already here will help them to do it. No muslimes will  ever report their "brothers" to the police if they suspect an attack is imminent. Hollande, Mad Merkel and other silly EU leaders should be made accountable for this awful terror attack. They have knowingly imported into Europe tens of thousands of dangerous immigrants of which many were infiltrated by terrorists and other ISIS fighters. All I can say is that the quicker we get rid of these idiotic politicians the better and safer we'll all be.

It's to be hoped that Hollande and other EU leaders will respond with an iron-fist against those responsible for this attack on innocent civilians instead of another embarrassing conga and linking of arms... gaol for life for the attackers and mass deportations for their families is the way to go if these are, as I suspect, French imports.

Will Barack Hussein Obama rush as per usual to firstly tag it a lone wolf attack and then fail to see this or name it as a Islamist attack until pushed to by Donald Trump.
France will need to bring in real draconian measures against these Muslim extremists who seem to easily find sucker and accomidation readily in the many Muslim communities not only in France but around Europe and the U.K. without the Muslim residents  reporting them to the authorities to stop these attacks  The carnage this animal has caused today no doubt in the name of his barbaric religion will no doubt see the far right win the elections in France this year and Le Pen will bring a world of hurt to them in France .

I am beginning to think that the human right that gives the freedom to practice religion is erred. I note that Islam was once prohibited in the UK. I would like to see it prohibited again. Rights require group responsibilities be satisfied by each and every member of a group claiming a right. Otherwise I must suggest, regrettably, that right should not exist.

Well, in my opinion it's overtly simplistic to say this is the EU's fault. It's a very complex issue. Muslim immigrants have been allowed in very big numbers through specific countries' non-EU immigration policies. Yes, the EU and refugee crisis might have made this even worse, but why are there no problems with terrorism in European countries that have less than 1% of Muslim population? Coincidence? Of course not. It's a numbers game: the more Muslims, the more chance of radical fanatics who are extremely dangerous, no other religion breeds such level of fanaticism as Islam. Yet politicians in UK, France, Germany, Belgium and Netherlands have allowed mass immigration from Muslim countries through their own specific immigration policy -- the EU does not dictate immigration policies for non-EU countries, it's up to the local governments to decide and these have failed to consider the threat of radical Islam when they allow mass immigration from Muslim countries.

You know, I specifically looked for a comment like yours on the British site but there is none.  I suppose it could have been deleted.  In England, "bloody" is considered profanity. But since it isn't thought of that way in America, it's actually appropriate, all considered.

You're not the only one who is certain in advance the perpetrator was Mohammedan.
(They really despise being called what they are, followers of Mohammed, therefore Mohammedans. It's something they need to hear, because it takes the wind out of their sails, you know, like what happened to them in A.D. 1571, at Lepanto.)

  • Possibly related (or possibly a coincidence, but I don't believe in coincidences), the Eiffel Tower is also on fire: https://twitter.com/alexisthiebaut/status/753710743753752576

No doubt the liberal media will all play this as a "random act of barbarism" with "nothing to do with Islam" or the avalanche of Mohammedans pouring into Europe and yet: http://www.vocativ.com/340859/revenge-killing-isis-supporters-celebrate-nice-attack/

All we can do is pray, really. So long as the Church is in the state it is in, none of this can be surprising and the Lord God has used the Mohammedan as an instrument of His wrath many times before. Unfortunately, I think it will take many more deaths before people start waking up.

    Yes, we must pray.

The Lord protects ... And having a loaded AR-15 never hurt, either.

  • I have never heard of there being any danger of the Eiffel Tower catching fire.

It's made of steel and wrought iron, you know.

But I suppose that all those layers of paint are potentially inflammable.

(The proper term is inflammable because inflame is a verb, but "flame" is not a verb.)

So maybe they never put a fire sprinkler system in the Tower.

And there are a lot of electric wires in it.

Boy, if this really burns, it's going to be destroyed, and it might even be in danger of falling over.

The Eiffel Tower has become the national symbol of France.  When it was built in the late 19th century for the World's Fair, its architect and engineer Eiffel had forseen it to have a lifespan of about 20 years, or 30 maximum. So it should have been demolished about 100 years ago. But popular uprising in support of maintaining it has kept it standing all these years.

In light of the comments I've been seeing regarding the truck terrorism in Nice and the general discontent of the French people with all this mayhem, they're going to be moved to a most extreme emotional state seeing their beloved Tower falling over.

    This is terrible news, indeed.

It bodes ill for any prospect of peace in France:  cινιℓ ωαr is imminent!

  • I know what the scourge of Islam feels like because most of the Somali-Americans who defect to ISIS and al-Shabaab are from my state. The amount is ASTOUNDING. It should put joy in everyone's heart when anyone leaves that revolting slime of a religion.
Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

Possibly related (or possibly a coincidence, but I don't believe in coincidences), the Eiffel Tower is also on fire: https://twitter.com/alexisthiebaut/status/753710743753752576

I went to the linked site and couldn't find anything about the Tower being on fire.

    They did have this, however:

    Quote

ISIS militants have been urging supporters to run westerners over with vehicles since 2014, when Abu Mohammed al Adnani, a spokesman for the Islamic State, urged the group’s supporters to kill “disbelieving American or European – especially the spiteful and filthy French – or an Australian, or a Canadian, or any other disbeliever from the disbelievers waging war, including the citizens of the countries that entered into a coalition against the Islamic State, then rely upon Allah, and kill him in any manner or way, however it may be,” he said in 2014. “Smash his head with a rock, or slaughter him with a knife, or run him over with your car, or throw him down from a high place, or choke him, or poison him.”

The Pentagon announced earlier this year that they believed Shishani, a Chechan-born jihadist known as Omar the Chechen, was likely killed in a U.S.-led airstrike in Syria. On Wednesday, Amaq, a media outfit that regularly publishes official news on behalf of ISIS, announced that Shishani was killed while fighting in Shirqat, Iraq, a city south of Mosul.

Shishani was a trusted military advisor to ISIS Leader leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and previously had a $5 million bounty on his head. At one point, he was one of the U.S. government’s top five most wanted jihadists.

The Iraqi military is currently preparing to launch a campaign backed by U.S. warplanes and special forces to recapture Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city that was overtaken by ISIS fighters in 2014. On Monday, the Pentagon announced that President Obama planned to send an additional 560 U.S. troops to help with the offensive.

  • Apologies, I structured my post poorly. The link after the picture wasn't in relation to the Eiffel Tower but I did not make that clear. I was trying to draw a link to the killings in Nice.

  • One post on Twitter says that Drudge had "a firework fell on a truck" that's all.

But here are some more thought-provoking tweets:

Also, truck bombs are nothing new.  And when a firework falls on a truck, what's the chance it would be a truck full of fireworks? Pretty slim. When a firework falls on a truck, usually the truck doesn't catch fire. So what's up with that?

  • The latest death toll in Nice is 80. Supposedly, the driver was of Tunisian origin. A truly horrific catastrophe.
