  • Looks like they want a hot war any way they can get it.  Here, they are sending an aircraft carrier -today- to the Black Sea, which will surely cause the confrontation they are looking for:

Update: Looks like there's an entire fleet escorting it there: Battleships, destroyers, probably submarines.

The USS Vinson alone holds a crew of 6,012 sailers.

  • The BRIICS nations are declaring war on the dollar with their gold-backed currency.  Economic war always precedes actual war.

  • Comments from the crew of the Russian Belgorod Class submarine, "K-375 Knyaz Vladimir":

"У нас более чем достаточно торпед для этих устаревших надводных целей"

Translated:  "We have more than enough torpedoes for those outdated surface targets."

"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • I confess that I wasn't able to watch the video ... I live on a farm and our DSL internet running on old rural phone lines won't support video.  With that said, any serious decimation of factual information is nearly always by written text with supporting references.

The crew size for a Nimitz class carrier is overstated by about 1,000 in your post.

There are ten Nimitz class carriers in the U.S. fleet.  Five are stationed on the east coast (Norfolk, VA and Newport News, VA), four on the west coast (Bremerton, WA and San Diego, CA, the Carl Vinson is based in San Diego), and one in Yokosuka, Japan.

Given the location of the Black Sea, and the only entrance into it being from the Mediterranean, it would seem to make way more sense to send a ship from a port on the U.S. east coast rather than one from a west coast port.  Even by sailing through the Panama Canal (and I wonder if a Nimitz class carrier would fit), sailing from Virginia is a shorter route to the Bosporus Strait than sailing from San Diego.

    Nope:

    Crew size = 6,012

Your number is coming from Wikipedia, and I use Wiki a lot, most of the time it is reasonable accurate.  However, my data about crew size came from an official U.S. naval website, and I think that trumps Wkipedia in this case.  From the link I posted:

General Characteristics, Nimitz class (The Carl Vinson is a Nimitz class carrier)
    Crew: Ship's Company: 3,000-3,200, air wing: 1,500, other: 500

Those numbers add up to between 5,000 and 5,200.
