You're very welcome. I grew up in the 60s in the UK and we used to sing doggerel about Hitler. There was never anything about gassing or extermination.
In 1977, the US was hit with the mini-series Roots. I know suspect that this, which left out the dominant Jєωιѕн role in the international slave trade, was to set us up for:
h0Ɩ0cαųst (1978) - The saga of a Jєωιѕн family's struggle to survive the horror of nαzι Germany's systematic marginalization and extermination of their community.
I remember being scolded by a boss circa 1987 for casually using the term "final solution". When called on it, I was aware of the connection with WWII but insufficiently to curb my speech.
I'm quite sure that the timing of the "h0Ɩ0cαųst" propaganda was very deliberate. They needed to wait until the generation who were children during the war were in leadership positions and the earlier generation had been displaced. The younger generation, my father's, had been subjected to the new reel propaganda and prepared to believe anything about the Germans. Neither Eisenhower, Churchill nor De Gaulle mentioned any "death camps" run by Germans.
