  • Parts of Siberia went over 100 degree Fahrenheit yesterday.  This is in a place north of the Arctic circle.

This past Winter in Ohio I shoveled my driveway exactly once.  And I didn't REALLY have to do it, but I was worried the slushy stuff would freeze if it got colder.  I'm very happy I resisted the temptation to buy a snowblower.  Just a few years ago, there were a few Winters where I had to shovel every day or every other day at minimum.

When I was growing up in NE Ohio, early June was always low 70s (and chilly at night).  It gradually warmed up to the mid- to upper- 70s by the end of June.  July saw some 80s and every once in a while we got a heat wave of low- to mid- 90s in late July or earl August.  Then by late August or early September, things began to cool down.

For the past few years now, it's looked more like this.  Warm temperatures and no snow until right around Christmas.  Then something resembling a Winter during January through March.  April has been cold through mid-May.  Then by mid-May it hits the 80s so that you have to go from running the heater to running the air conditioner from one day to the next.  No transition where you don't have to run HVAC but can just leave windows open.  Just 5 years ago, I was picking up the last round of leaves in late October.  About the last 2 years, I was still picking up leaves at Thanksgiving time (which I could do to lack of snow).  By the time it finally snowed in late December, there were STILL leaves in the trees, some of which fell on top of the snow.  Also, we used to start getting snow by early November and then would be done by early March.  Lately it doesn't snow til late December and will sometimes snow in mid- to late- April.  Last year, however, we had barely any snow at all.

This weather is becoming more and more erratic.  It sounds like Our Lady's prophecy at LaSalette that the seasons would be altered.
