Are any of you having this problem at your chapel? Sometimes it is pretty bad where you can't even hear the priest. A few people have shushed them but it continues.

  • Doesn't happen at my chapel - thankfully.

  • Which "domine"?  the first one, right before the communion of the priest himself? Or the second one, right before the communion of the people?

There are customs in some places in which the entire congregation says the Domine right before receiving communion.

  • The second one.. it appears to be some kind of modern dialogue Mass remnant.

Never seen it in ANY SSPX chapel or ANY Latin mass I have attended in my 23+ years of going to the Latin Mass in the USA.
Are you located in the USA? Who is your priest associated with and what is his nationality and seminary training?

I'd bet every dollar I have that it is the women of the congregation that are doing it, that very few men do it.

I've heard this once, at a FSSP parish at the main Mass on Sunday.  They also recited the Pater Noster aloud with the priest.  It was was everyone, male and female.  It didn't happen at the one weekday Mass I attended, and the people present were mostly older women.  This was in the US.  I didn't like it.  To me, it lacks reverence and is distracting.  One should pray with the priest silently.

  • There is  only one explanation necessary to people who do novelties like this; it is not a custom in our country, the USA. PERIOD.

Nothing else need be said. We are traditionalists, not inventors.

  • It seems to be part of the dialogue Mass from the 60's which we know is modern. I am thinking the people doing this are coming from the Fraternity of St. Peter or a Diocese 62' Mass.  The regulars of our parish do not do this.
