Who consecrated the SSPX oils used in France?

  • I am set to receive my confirmation from the SSPX in Mexico in December. I brought my concern about the oils "consecrated" by Huonder to the priest that attends the mission in the city I live in. He told me that the oils come from the US and France.

The oils from the US were consecrated by Bp. de Galarreta. At least, there's a video on YouTube, of His Excellency celebrating the crismal mass.

But I haven't been able to identify who consecrated the oils used in France. I tried to search for crismal mass at Flavigny or St. Nicolas du Chardonet but nothing came up. Also, I read somewhere here that some SSPX priests were asking Bp. Faure for oil. Does that mean that in France they are using Huonder's oils?

Also, the news of Bp. Tissier offering confirmations at a NO church only increased my distrust.

I am aware that knowing who consecrated the oils here and there is no garantee that those are the ones that are going to be used here in December, but I have to start trusting somewhere. Plus, I have some health concerns that have to be corrected relatively soon, so I'd like to receive confirmation as soon as possible.

I'll really appreciate any info you may provide. Ave María Purísima.

Just ask him who consecrated the oils coming from France.

Was it you who said in another thread that some SSPX priests aproached Mons. Faure for oils? Are they French?

Germans for sure.  Possibly also French, but you should ask +Faure.

He'd probably know where the French got their oils.

Do you have his email? I wrote a few months ago to an email that I saw in his seminary's website but never got an answer. I was precisely inquiring about Resistance confirmations in Mexico.

  • I would imagine that the bishop who confirms you will use the oils that he consecrated himself. Hopefully the prior at the SSPX chapel can at least supply you with that information. He might even have the courage to speak to the bishop and let him know that some of his faithful are concerned that the oils he is using may have been consecrated by this new-rite bishop. It might even prick his conscience for a few brief moments...

From what I understood from my conversation with the priest, the bishops don't carry their oils with them, they use whatever it's available in the location where they will confirm.

He also told me that several other people have asked the same thing, so I hope that this rings some bells in their heads (the priests').

  • There are only three (legitimate) SSPX currently.

You said that Bp. Galarreta was in the US for the Chrismal Mass, where were Bp. Fellay and Bp. de Mallerais?

Given the geographical proximity, it seems more logical to me that the oils used in France were consecrated in Econe, Switzerland. There was a Chrismal Mass there this year: https://econe.fsspx.org/fr/news-events/news/les-offices-de-la-semaine-sainte-73036

It seems that Bp. de Mallerais has been conducting the latest Econe cerimonies: https://econe.fsspx.org/fr/media/photos/sacerdoce-et-diaconat-juin-2023-83722

Considering his frail health and age, he is probably not traveling that much. I would imagine that he was the one who was there for Holy Week this year.

I would also ask them if the Huonder oils are Kosher.

  • I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but according to Fr. Rousseau (Resistance - Switzerland):

"Who knows whether, in the future, priests of the Society will not go begging for the Holy Oils of bishops consecrated by Bishop Williamson, as happened after Easter this year in Germany, when these priests refused the Holy Oils consecrated by Bishop Huonder at the seminary in Zaitzkofen? (Note, by the way, that these "German" Holy Thursday Oils were given for all priests of the Society of St. Pius X residing in Asia: to say that the Oils will have been circuмscribed to a limited country is false)."

Sounds like Asia is getting gimped again... The Devil has worked so hard to keep them away from Christ, now trying to stop them from getting confirmed...

Looks bad. I'd probably have to ask the priest more questions and make a decision. Thanks, Sean
