Which Missal do you use for Mass?

  • When I was growing up as a traditional Catholic, my first hand missal was my black 1959 St. Joseph Daily Missal.  I became dissatisfied with the writing on the Presentation page and so I gave it to one of my friends and bought a white 1961 St. Joseph Daily Missal.  I opted for the early 1960s version because I was attending Sunday Mass at the SSPX chapel, which uses the 1962 missal.

When I got older, I opted for the 1962 Roman Catholic Daily Missal because the Ordinary of the Mass and the Propers were in Latin and English.  The text was large and uses traditional English language, e.g. thou and thee.  My old St. Joseph Daily Missal uses modern American English and the Lectionary is entirely from the Confraternity Version, a modern American English revision of the Douay-Rheims Bible.

What about you?  Which missal do you use for Mass?  And why?
I'm a Roman Catholic who upholds the sedevacantist position.

  • Well, I don't have a TLM to attend, but I think I used the 1962 Missal for the ones I attended in the past. I know I currently have a 1962 Missal on my bookshelf. Though I'd prefer a 1950s Missal.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.
