The posted devotion has nothing to do with First Friday. The devotion this year just happens to start on a First Friday.

The seven days before her feast on the Friday before Passion Sunday in Lent.
The hour of desolation of Mary for Good Friday evening.
The crowning of OLS on Holy Saturday.
The seven Fridays before September 15th
The seven days before September 15th
The Via Matris
The little office of OLS
The Litany of the VII Dolours
The seven sorrows rosary
The black scapular
The confraternity of Our Lady of Sorrows.
On the church calendar, only Mary under the title of Our Lady of Sorrows enjoys two feast days.
There are more devotions to Our Lady under this title than any other title she has.
Our Lady first acquired this title while she was still alive, after the crucifixion, so it is one of her oldest.
It was as Our Lady of Sorrows that she appeared in her very first apparition, shortly after her assumption, to St. John when she obtained from her Son four promises for those who would console her in her sorrows.
Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows was probably the most popular devotion to her for the first thousand or more years of Christianity.
