I know the situation is very serious and the doctors have recommended against optimism. Other than that, I have no further news. I will certainly provide updates when I have them. Please also pray for the parents.
I know it’s extremely difficult for them to see this now (as it would be for me), but if that baby dies, those parents will have their own little saint in heaven. I will still pray for her recovery, but God’s will be done. He knows best what that baby and the parents need.Well said...
She died last night.

On Saturday, we were able to make a visit (before she died). I have never had occasion to see hearts so broken. The father extended his gratitude for all of the prayers offered. He knows CI was storming Heaven for them.

God works in mysterious ways. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers. They are well-positioned, as their little Vivian will, I am sure, intercede on their behalf with prayers for healing and endurance.

Thank you all again. Last week was very difficult for everyone in our small chapel community. Our first funeral will be for an infant.
The rite given here for the burial of a child is not to be regarded as a prayer of petition of the Church for the soul of the child. Rather, it is to be seen as a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to God for having taken the child to the glory and happiness of everlasting life.2 (https://latinmassbaptism.com/loss-of-a-child/#fn:2)
Baptised children under the ‘age of reason’ (seven years) are assumed not to have committed actual (personal) sin; it is therefore not necessary to pray for their release from Purgatory. The Requiem Mass is not said for them; instead, either the Mass of the day, or a votive Mass (usually, the Mass of the Angels), is said for a suitable intention, such as to beg consolation for the family. There are different psalms, prayers, and ceremonies for the reception of the body, the blessing of the coffin at the end of Mass, and the burial.
Prayers and sympathy for the family. :pray:That is beautiful Miseremini! Thank you for sharing!
For those new to tradition, the funeral Mass for a baptised child who has not reached the age of reason is not a Requiem Mass with priest vested in black but the Mass of the Angels with the priest vested in white.
