Unrecognized Victims of the Novus Ordo

  • I used to attend the CMRI capel here in Denver, and I am still on their emailing list. Three days ago I got this (slightly redacted) letter from the secretary of the chapel.

    Quote
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE FAMILY OF EUSEBIO & ALECIA DOMINGUEZ. (THE WIFE GOES BY A DIFFERENT LAST NAME). THEY WERE IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE DRIVE OVER TO MASS THIS MORNING (NEAR IDAHO SPRINGS).  SEVEN FAMILY MEMBERS WERE SENT TO ST ANTHONY'S CENTRAL. 2 WERE RELEASED.  THEY ARE NEWER PARISHIONERS AND WERE BRINGING THEIR OTHER BROTHER AND HIS FAMILY TO MASS FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY.

FR GABRIEL WAS ABLE TO SEE ALL AT THE HOSPITAL.  ALECIA WAS COMING OUT OF SURGERY WHEN WE LEFT - BUT FR WAS ABLE TO SEE ALL OF THE CHILDREN, AUNT AND MOM.  INJURIES WERE BROKEN BONES, VERTEBRA, CORNEA, LACERATIONS AND 2 SURGERIES NEEDED.

MARY HAS ORGANIZED A MAKE DO HOTEL FOR THE FAMILIES WHO REMAIN HERE UNTIL THE OTHERS ARE RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL.  PLEASE DROP OFF FOOD AT THE CHURCH OR CALL MARY TO SEE WHAT IS NEEDED.  WE MAY NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR DRIVING THEM TO AND FROM HOSPITAL.  JOHN KOSOVICH IS  HANDLING THAT.

PLEASE KEEP THEM IN YOUR PRAYERS, THE MOMS WHO HAD SERIOUS INJURIES  WERE UNABLE TO BE WITH THEIR INJURED CHILDREN.

For those who are not familiar with the geography of Colorado, Idaho Springs is more than 30 miles to the west of the city of Denver, and the highway there runs through difficult mountain passes. But the message only said that Idaho Springs is where the accident occured. I'm not sure if the family was coming from an even further location.

I've been made aware of the fact that many people sacrifice a lot just to attend what they believe to be a true Roman liturgy. For some of those people, due to their internal convictions, the CMRI offers the only mass that cashes that out. I know that people drive in from all over the state to come to that Chapel. And the priests themselves have a rather large circuit to complete. Every Sunday one of the priests will drive from the Nebraska border in the east, all the way to Grand Junction in the west, to say mass at various locations, even sometimes administering to individual families in out-of-the-way locations. They are committed, hard-working servants of Christ and his flock.

I remember thinking while I was there, that with all this highway driving somebody's going to get into an accident sooner or later. Well, it hapened, and this isn't the first time, either. These long-distance communicants and the hazards they are exposed to, are just another entry on the list of unheralded victims of the Novus Ordo. Please pray for the recovery of these folks, and the safety of traveling traditionalists everywhere.

    St. Christopher, pray for us.

  • Cupertino, while I see your point - a little, I totally agree with MoW.  They ARE victims of the NO.  But for the fact that they had to drive such a distance to get to Mass, they probably wouldn't have had that accident.  The probability of having an accident is greater if the distance is greater is it not?

    God Bless them.

  • There isn't any inconsistency between believing in probability and believing in Providence.

(I've studied probability theory and its axiomatic basis)

It is true that more miles driven means more accidents, and the highway, more fatal accidents, particularly in winter time.

I think families who live far from Church should be extremely careful not to drive in inclement weather. (not that that was necessarily the issue here)

  • This thread, for those of you who may have forgotten, is a prayer request, not an excuse for theodical speculations. Whatever your theories on Providence are, Cupertino, there is still a family with multiple injured members who would benefit from prayer.

Do you think it would anger God, and show disrespect for His ironclad edicts, if you were to say a quick Hail Mary for this family? Is that your idea of being a Catholic, to ignore the needs of God's children?

And yes, they are victims of the Novus Ordo. In one way or another, we all are. The world is worse off for not having more true Masses said in more places, and for the collapse of Christian culture that followed in the wake of Vatican II. The car accident suffered by this family is just one peculiar instance of the damage done by the Conciliar Church. If you want to ask why this particular family, why now, etc., then that would be a subject for theodicy. The multiform malignacy of Cociliarism is not a subject for theodicy. It is pretty well established.

  • Cupertino, what you write is true - mostly.  Somehow I took the plight of this family personal as I now have to drive 3 times the distance over 2 Cal. freeways to get to a decent Mass.  I'm VERY careful as I now know I'm in more danger than going before, when I only had to go a few miles on no freeways.  I thank God I have a car, enough gas & in good health to be able to drive.  I don't see that family complaining that they are victims - it was an accident.  However, I don't care how you slice it or dice it,  WE ARE ALL VICTIMS OF THE N.O.

  • There are no true "victims" anymore. Children molested by adults are not "victims". Resitution or monies should not be sought from the culprits and those that enabled them.  :tinfoil:

  • Quote from: Cupertino
Victims were always direct sufferers. A Catholic in the Novus Ordo is a victim, and ceased to be a victim by escaping.

Escaping to where? The idea that they are no longer victims is delusional. Many times they become victims of another establishment that also claims to be the Catholic Church.

It would be comparatively easy for us to be holy if only we could always see the character of our neighbours either in soft shade or with the kindly deceits of moonlight upon them. Of course, we are not to grow blind to evil

  • While I think delusional is a bit strong, I agree overall.  The world is victim to the NO and the attempts to escape can lead to making one wonder why they ever bothered.

And prayers for that poor family, that is really sobering to hear of a whole carload of people crashing on the way to Mass.
