Title: Two ER Visits Recently, Prayers Requested
Post by: shin on January 05, 2021, 05:36:40 AM
Hello. It has been awhile since I have been here.

Sorry to come back on a sad note. I've had to go to the ER twice in the past 10 days, and am not doing well. So far, no diagnosis as to the cause of my bad condition of uncontrollable and worsening muscle tremors. Day by day.. it gets worse. Felt about to keel over, and off in am ambulance I was the other day. I will see a specialist soon.

I am requesting prayers for myself. Please do help with your prayers.

They are much appreciated and I will hold you up to the Lord in thanks.

Kyrie eleison.

Any idea what is causing your medical condition?
Do you still have your saints forum?  I must admit I forgot about it after I got married and we had our first child.
Definitely will be praying!
God bless!
Rita

Many thanks for all the prayers. I am holding everyone up to the Lord. May God reward you.

I have a doctor's appt today to start to find out what is going on. I doubt I'll get a real answer today, but I should at least get some more labwork scheduled.

I don't know what the cause is or what it is, so far it's all a lot of far out speculation without weight to it. I investigated whether it was something simple -- like carbon monoxide poisoning, but no, as much as it'd would've been an easy fix answer that isn't it. God willing it'll be a different simple and curable condition. May the Lord's merciful will be done.

Yes the Saints' Discussion Forum is still around. As always it's focused on posts quoting saints and various inspirational readings for self improvement. I pray you and your family are having a grand old time Rita. :)

Thanks again for all the prayers. I am grateful.

I am not doing too well here today. But when things are not diagnosed, there's little doctors do but give you palliative care, in my case that palliative care is not working well. I hope I can get a diagnosis as to what is wrong as my condition is continuing to worsen.

I hope I am still around tomorrow, and next week and next month.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am getting a high quality air filter. I am also testing the water at a lab.

No diagnosis. Just treating the symptoms. My medication dosage to keep the tremors under control keeps going up, but the tremors are getting worse faster and there's a limit to the dosage. Not happy with my current medical care.

Many prayers.

Sorry you are suffering so. Will pray for you tonight.
Did they give you clonazepam for the tremors? Careful with that stuff. It may help but benzos at high doses are terrible.   I don't know if you are capable of doing so because of your severe symptoms, but sometimes an elimination water fast for a day or so ( whatever you are able to do) can help pinpoint what the causes are. Put a little sea salt in the water and drink from an actual glass, not a cup that may be leeching lead if it's made in China. ( heavy metals cause many neurological symptoms) Slowly add your usual diet back and see if it makes any difference. Magnesium supplements can relax smooth muscle as well.
Barring something as taxing as a fast, you might want to try activated charcoal or bentonite clay to try and remove any offending metals or toxins. Seraphina is right- mold is a terrible offender and can mimic a variety of syndromes. When it comes to toxicity , you are better off in the hands of a naturopath.

I am on baclofen for the tremors. Clonidine for bp but it seems to help too.

I do have some activated charcoal I will try. I am trying whatever supplements I can, as well as reviewing possible prescription medications. So far I am not finding an answer, Lord have mercy. Looking forwards to the arrival of the air filter in a couple days. Magnesium is a good suggestion it has helped a lot of people, it does not in my particular case.

I have a new symptom of pins and needles in my throat and sinuses, and warmth, along with a feeling of difficulty breathing and being about to pass out. Taking some zyrtec helps with this, so I am wondering if this is some kind of allergic reaction fundamentally. But this could possibly be due to neurological damage too I think, though nothing has shown up yet on the MRI and CT scan.

I just escalated things with my doctor with a letter that while not harsh could be taken badly due to its insistance on strong actions, not my usual course to be so forceful  but it is necessary that the treatment improve. Hopefully it will lead to a good rather than bad response. I am going downhill with the increasing symptoms and my medication is not keeping up, and palliative rather than curative. My life is indeed in danger here. I will be doing my best to seek second opinions regardless, but if I lose the doctor who has so far gotten me the medications I am on that would be quite difficult to deal with.

Prayers deeply appreciated from the bottom of my heart.

Not to hijack the thread, but have you had any experience using oral EDTA for removing heavy metals from the body?

Oral EDTA is pretty safe to use , although I wouldn't use it daily- maybe once a week. I Did IV chelation therapy with EDTA on my father 20 years ago and it is not without minor immediate side effects, overall I think it's effective, but it still is a chemical so it should be used with caution. My  very sick father lived another 9 years. I can't say it was due to chelation directly but a battery of IV vitamins as well, but first and foremost, it was getting him off the pharmaceuticals that helped tremendously.

I've never tried EDTA. So far the blood tests have not shown signs of heavy metal poisoning according to my doctor last I saw him. I am despite this getting the water comprehensively tested by a laboratory, and will test the walls for lead paint too, as it's an old house.

Air filter arrived. My congestion is slightly less after using it but I continue to decline otherwise.

I have 4 doctors appts in the next 3 weeks, none with a neurologist. The neurologist I saw twice and tried to get a diagnosis or at least some Q&A out of reacted badly to being pushed to do more. I am seeking a new one, getting a timely appt will be the next difficulty.

I am reading neurological encyclopedias and lists of diseases, symptoms, and prescription medications.

One of my appts is now for an opthamologist as I am starting to have vision issues. I am hoping it is just due to the tremors affecting the eye muscles. I am getting a rippling like water effect around my peripheral vision at times.

This is where things are as of today. Thank you again for the prayers, very much. Very much.

Kyrie eleison. Christie eleison. Kyrie eleison.

Thank you for the response JM. I've used oral EDTA for 10+ years for cardiovascular disease with very good results. Your right about not overdoing it though. The first time I used it I took too much and had a very intersting headache. And I took it daily for a while and developed a stomach ulcer. For the last several years I just use EDTA, along with a mineral supplement, when I notice symptoms. Most of the time 2-3 days of use every 2-3 months.

Looking these up, I don't think they're possibilities. While I am having muscle tremors, tics, and mostly constant vibrations of smaller muscles, I do not so far notice any significant weakness.
I welcome all suggestions for possibilities. It gives me something to research and check, when I don't have a diagnosis. Thanks for the help!

This is what I use. I haven't used it specifically for heavy metal removal, but I understand some people do. EDTA is actually approved by the FDA for lead posioning.

Yes, thank you for asking. Still declining but hanging in there. More appts, more tests.
No radon issues. Water test results should be back soon. I've found there are private labs you can get everything from comprehensive heavy metal testing, to myotoxicity tests done with. You can private pay/schedule MRIs at the local hospital if necessary and you know the right procedure codes too. So one way or another to the extent I can't get doctor's scripts for testing for rarer conditions I should be able to do some myself while I'm up to taking care of things still.
I will see a new neurologist later this month, this DIY labwork stuff is on the desperate side of things but that's where I am without a diagnosis.
Many prayers requested, many prayers for the pray-ers.

I found a beautiful prayer to St. Joseph Shin, that I posted where Matthew was telling us about losing his job.  This is his month.
He is a beautiful saint.

Here it is:
For centuries Christians have turned to St. Joseph as a powerful patron and faithful guardian, father and friend. Invoked as the Glory of home lifePatron of the Dying and Terror of Demons, Christians call upon St. Joseph for healing and conversion, help with their children, a new job or home, and for all their needs of body and soul.

Honored as the Patron of the Universal Church, St. Joseph’s paternal protection of the Lord Jesus continues even from heaven, as he watches over Christ’s Mystical Body on earth. The foster-father of the Son of God is also a father to those who have become God’s sons and daughters through the sacrament of baptism.

Saints and popes down the centuries have experienced and extolled St. Joseph’s great power to intercede. “Would that I could persuade all men to be devout to this glorious saint,” wrote St. Teresa of Avila in her autobiography (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0140440739/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=0140440739&linkCode=as2&tag=httpwwwchanco-20%20UI,%20Helvetica%20Neue,%20Helvetica,%20Roboto,%20Oxygen,%20Ubuntu,%20Cantarell,%20Fira%20Sans,%20Droid%20Sans,%20sans-serif), “for I know by long experience what blessings he can obtain for us from God.”

“Men of every rank and country should fly to the trust and guard of the blessed Joseph,” especially fathers of families, Pope Leo XIII wrote in his encyclical on devotion to St. Joseph, Quamquam pluries (http://w2.vatican.va/content/leo-xiii/en/encyclicals/docuмents/hf_l-xiii_enc_15081889_quamquam-pluries.html).

Why 30 days, you might wonder? According to tradition, St. Joseph died just before Jesus entered into his public ministry. The prayer therefore honors St. Joseph for each of the 30 years he spent with Jesus and Mary on earth.

This prayer can be said during any 30-day period, but with St. Joseph’s feast upon us, now is a particularly opportune time to turn to him asking his help and guidance for all your needs, the needs of your family, loved ones, friends, and all those in need of prayer.

__________________________________________

THIRTY DAY PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH
IN HONOR OF THE 30 YEARS HE SPENT WITH JESUS AND MARY

Ever blessed and glorious Joseph, kind and loving father, and helpful friend of all in sorrow! You are the good father and protector of orphans, the defender of the defenseless, the patron of those in need and sorrow.

Look kindly on my request. My sins have drawn down on me the just displeasure of my God, and so I am surrounded with unhappiness. To you, loving guardian of the Family of Nazareth, do I go for help and protection. Listen, then, I beg you, with fatherly concern, to my earnest prayers, and obtain for me the favors I ask.

I ask it by the infinite mercy of the eternal Son of God, which moved Him to take our nature and to be born into this world of sorrow.

I ask it by the weariness and suffering you endured when you found no shelter at the inn of Bethlehem for the Holy Virgin, nor a house where the Son of God could be born. Then, being everywhere refused, you had to allow the Queen of Heaven to give birth to the world’s Redeemer in a cave.

I ask it by the loveliness and power of that sacred Name, Jesus, which you conferred on the adorable Infant.

I ask it by the painful torture you felt at the prophecy of holy Simeon, which declared the Child Jesus and His holy Mother future victims of our sins and of their great love for us.

I ask it through your sorrow and pain of soul when the angel declared to you that the life of the Child Jesus was sought by His enemies. From their evil plan, you had to flee with Him and His Blessed Mother to Egypt.

I ask it by all the suffering, weariness, and labors of that long and dangerous journey.

I ask it by all your care to protect the Sacred Child and His Immaculate Mother during your second journey, when you were ordered to return to your own country.

I ask it by your peaceful life in Nazareth where you met with so many joys and sorrows. I ask it by your great distress when the adorable Child was lost to you and His mother for three days.

I ask it by your joy at finding Him in the temple, and by the comfort you found at Nazareth, while living in the company of the Child Jesus.

I ask it by the wonderful submission He showed in His obedience to you.

I ask it by the perfect love and conformity you showed in accepting the Divine order to depart from this life, and from the company of Jesus and Mary.

I ask it by the joy which filled your soul, when the Redeemer of the world, triumphant over death and hell, entered into the possession of His kingdom and led you into it with special honors.

I ask it through Mary’s glorious Assumption, and through that endless happiness you have with her in the presence of God. O good father! I beg you, by all your sufferings, sorrows, and joys, to hear me and obtain for me what I ask.

(Here name your petitions or think of them.)

Obtain for all those who have asked my prayers everything that is useful to them in the plan of God. Finally, my dear patron and father, be with me and all who are dear to me in our last moments, that we may eternally sing the praises of: JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH.

“A blameless life, St. Joseph, may we lead, by your kind patronage from danger freed.”

I am still here. Thank you again for the prayers. They are very much needed.

Still worsening, not doing well. I will see another doctor on the 21st. Hopefully some more testing will be ordered then so some progress can be made.

How is your diet?  Maybe you have some kind food allergy. Or you could be vitamin deficient.

Dear Shin-
Vit B12 deficiency can mimic Parkinson's, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and cause nerve pain. The lab tests say that a B12 level of 300 is  minimally acceptable, but it's not. The official range is 300- 1400+. You may not have enough or not able to absorb B12. They can give you intramuscular injections of B12 and it works rapidly. Not trying to give you false hope but many people's tremors subsided with the correction of the deficiency.
Some pharmaceuticals can cause B12 deficiency like metformin for Type ll diabetes- I don't know if you are taking that.
Also extra virgin coconut oil has shown to improve neurological symptoms as it feeds the brain and CNS with single chain fatty acids instead of sugar. The studies are starting to show that Alzheimer's  (I know you don't have alzheimers!) and other brain syndromes are caused by Type ll diabetic type symptoms of the brain ( brain cells unable to absorb sugar due to insulin resistance) but the brain cells are happily fed by the fatty acids in coconut oil and function is restored.
Sorry so much stuff- hope it's not a bother
Praying for you! God bless you

Thank you again.

I welcome any suggestions for exploration. I have had a lot of blood tests and an MRI of the brain and nothing is showing up, but my body is telling me something is very wrong and it is falling apart. I am grasping at straws.

I have tried a B-complex vitamin, it's a good suggestion it is not working though. I have had olive oil in my diet. I don't have diabetes or of course Alzheimers. Though I must ask for prayers for my mother, as she is getting forgetful and it runs in the family so it is a possibility for her. I am hoping she can come see me soon, it is a long way to travel for her at her age. It would be reassuring for us to be together though I hate to burden her with this.

I will see my primary care physician on the 13th but have no expectations as this is not his specialty and he is out of ideas, it is the neurologist on the 21st that may help. But I do not have much confidence either. I have seen him once via telemed and he did not offer much. If he is no help, I will have to look for a third neurologist, and this takes time.. too much time, my time is running out quickly. I do not think I have months unless a new medication is found. The medicine I am on now is near the maximum dose, not sufficently suppressing the tremors, and side effects starting to be disturbing. We have to find a new medication to go along with it, and so far this is not happening, and all it is, is to try to mitigate the tremors not cure them as I have no diagnosis as to the cause.

I am constantly shaking and sometimes it is like being hit. It is like being held and violently shook or hit. Sometimes it subsides enough to sleep but it is building up to a point where that may not be possible. I can't last much longer like this.

Forgive me I have gone on awhile. I do not like to speak about my troubles, but since I am so greatly in need of help and it is so desperate I am relying on everyone.

Kyrie eleison. Christi eleison. Kyrie eleison.

I know this doesn’t offer much hope, but have you been tested for CJD?
Title: Re: Two ER Visits Recently, Prayers Requested
Post by: shin on April 10, 2021, 05:26:21 PM
RE: CJD. Not specifically, but just quickly reading about it, I think it would have shown up in the brain MRI.

I am not considered as someone with Parkinsons or Lou Gherig's(ALS) at this point, as the main symptom is simply muscle tremors, vibrations and jerks, not weakness. I get some pins and needles sensations.

My potassium levels are fine, and are my vitamin D levels. My B12 is tested fine. And my ANA turned out negative which points against auto-immune. I am going to try to explore auto-immune further but that one test being negative seems to be in the way of the doctors doing more tests.

I will have heavy metal poisoning blood test on the 13th at the lab, but I have already had a hair heavy metals test that was quite comprehensive, and there are no signs of anything like lead, mercury, or so forth. A test of the house for carbon monixide poisoning or a natural gas leak turned out all clear. I installed a 7 stage air filter, it did not help with this.

I saw an allergist/immunologist and was actually less allergic than last I was tested, but food allergies were not tested despite my request. I was told that food allergies are best tested for by elimination diet, and that other testing is unreliable except for people who display anaphalactic symptoms.

I am fasting a great deal as when my body has less energy the tremors a mitigated to a degree, so it is unlikely due to food allergies.

Kyrie eleison.

Hi Shin,
Sorry to be a pest.
I have been reading up on idiopathic tremors, also called essential tremors. I'm sure you have done all of the research already but I'll say it anyway.
It states the tremors may very well be genetic or at least familial, otherwise of unknown cause.
The treatments being talked about are botox injections and also a specific kind of ultrasound treatment- I'm sure you've seen it online. here is some info on it.

Essential Tremor
Last Updated: 10 March 2021
Focused ultrasound treatment for essential tremor has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2016. Medicare approved the treatment in all US states as of July 12, 2020.
Essential tremor (ET) is the most common movement disorder, affecting an estimated 3% of the population, or approximately 10 million individuals in the United States. ET is commonly viewed as a relatively benign disease.
However, the associated disabling aspects of ET, such as significant tremor of the hands, can impair patients’ ability to eat, shave, write, perform household activities, and function in the workplace.
The underlying etiology of ET is unclear, but cases often run in families (familial tremor). It has been estimated that approximately 50% of all cases are due to a genetic mutation, and the pattern of inheritance is most consistent with autosomal dominant transmission (i.e. dominant trait).
Focused Ultrasound Therapy
Focused ultrasound is a noninvasive, therapeutic technology with the potential to improve the quality of life and decrease the cost of care for patients with essential tremor. This novel technology focuses multiple beams of ultrasound energy precisely and accurately on targets deep in the brain without damaging surrounding normal tissue.
How it Works
Where the focused ultrasound beams converge, they produce precise ablation (thermal destruction of tissue), enabling ET to be treated noninvasively. The primary target is a region in the thalamus called the ventral intermєdιαte nucleus (Vim), but other adjacent targets and white matter pathways are also in use.

Current treatments are being performed on one side of the brain, but there is a study underway of staged bilateral treatments.

Advantages

Clinical Trials
Phase 3 Pivotal Clinical Study
Enrollment has been completed in a multi-center pivotal randomized study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of focused ultrasound for the treatment of medication-refractory essential tremor patients. Results of this study have been reviewed and approved by the FDA.

A multi-site US clinical trial  (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04112381?term=04112381&draw=2&rank=1)is investigating staged bilateral treatments for ET. The interval between treatments will be at least nine months.
A clinical trial in the UK and Spain (https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/results?cond=&term=03465761&cntry=&state=&city=&dist=) has begun and is doing staged bilateral treatments. This group will treat the second side after at least nine months have passed after the first treatment.
Treatment Sites
Please see a list of possible treatment sites here. (https://www.insightec.com/us/treatment-centers/neurosurgery/usa)
Regulatory & Reimbursement
The Exablate system manufactured by Insightec earned FDA approval to treat essential tremor in July 2016. It is also approved for treating essential tremor in Europe, Korea, Canada, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, and the Middle East.

In the US, the Medicare contractors in the various states incrementally approved focused ultrasound treatment for essential tremor. However, on July 12, 2020, all US sites  approved for payment under Medicare.

Commercial coverage and Medicaid will typically follow Medicare but should be evaluated with each company and region. Some facilities have a cash payment option, for those who are not willing to wait for insurance decisions for payment. Prices vary, but a rough estimate is $40,000.
Device manufacturer, Insightec has established an informational website (http://usa.essential-tremor.com/), including patient stories and access to treatment site information. They have also set up a Reimbursement Support Manager, who can help with questions about the status of reimbursements. Her contact information is: Kim Martin, Reimbursement Support Manager, 1-(866) 392-8478 or .

There is one more main symptom, that which is all my reflexes are off, I am often over reaching and have to control how I walk, pick up things, and move with special attention. It is as if I am trying to reach for something and my reflexes go into overdrive and I over reach.

May the good Lord please have mercy on me, and on us all. Kyrie eleison.

I see you've posted while I was writing. Essential tremor, yes this is something I have been reading about. I do not think that is what I have but I forget why I thought it not indicated after some research I will have to look at it again.

Let me see.. the webmds say essential tremor happens more when moving.. this is not the case with me so far.. and both sides of my body are evenly affected.. it started in the head, then spread to the waist, and then all throughout.. but my extremities are so far the least affected rather than most.

The ultrasound therapy to burn away part of the brain.. I can understand why someone would go that far now sadly.  At least it exists. Thank you for letting me know about this I will have to see if it is an option.

The Lord is merciful. Lord have mercy on us. Thanks be to God for all His gifts and mercies.

Even though this is torturous I can smile at times still. The Lord is merciful and has done great things for me. May God forgive me all my sins and have mercy on us all.

Thanks to everyone for the so needed prayers.

I have my better days and my worse days here, though I am still declining, I will trust in the Lord. It is a beautiful Spring day today, it's good for me to look outside and cease to think about my illness. The flowers beginning to spring up and the birds returning.

I'm a weak sinner, who does not live up to all the good He has done for me. So many good and holy writings and gifts from the Holy Church and the saints, and I have done  so very little with all that I have been given. But still the Lord is merciful to folks like myself, He truly is magnificent to even the most pitiful of people.

I am afraid the results were inconclusive, as my case is not run of the mill he does not appear to have ideas on how to proceed further in diagnosing it, but it following up with me in person in two weeks. This was supposed to be an in person visit but due to a mistake was changed to telemed. He said they were being overwhelmed with patients at this time.

The next meeting will probably be some physical evaluations, and a new medication suggestion to suppress the symptoms. Perhaps he will have some ideas for further tests that he did not have at this visit.

I do not have any confidence anything much will come out of it and am probably going to try to schedule an appt with the department head after this next appt if there is no good results, as he has a good reputation.

I have a lot of strange symptoms, I very tired of it all. There are bad times and the decline continues, but at least there are some times when it is not too bad and I can sleep and think about other things. Thank God.

Kyrie eleison.

Thank you, thanks everyone. Lifting you all up in prayer to the Lord in thanks for your prayers and kind words.

Thank you josefamenendaz, thank you FlosCarmeli13, thank you everyone. Praying and praying for you too.

I looked at the 16 diseases suggested in that article.. it took some time but it doesn't look like I can find a fit. I will keep them in mind if other symptoms matching these conditions develop. In the meantime I will keep searching.

I will go into detail a bit here.. I have ordered a medical grade genetic test kit, to see if I have any genetic predispositions to certain illnesses. Certainly I have no knowledge of anything like this running in my family. I'll also be getting another private lab test from DirectLabs this time for GI Microbial Assay, since my symptoms seem to worsen with food intake.. whether this is just because my metabolism is no longer slowed down.. or something else, well something else is only a remote possibility but it is desperate straits.

My tremors come in waves.. I get an attack for some hours.. then some miserable times for awhile after but not a peak attack.. then with medication things are just under control enough to function.. but the non attack times are also rising and worsening so that the medication can't keep up. I have to get a new medication soon that works or I'll be unable to care for myself. . and always miserably shaking too much.. that is a very possible future in the coming months. I am trying to get my mother out here to visit and break the news to her.. it's a long drive for a senior citizen.. and hard news to give her when we're supposed to be celebrating Mother's Day, it will break her heart, I've been praying to get better before then.

I see my neurologist next hopefully on the 14th.. then I have scheduled an appt with the department head of neurology on 7-21. Hopefully this will not interfere with the care the neurologist I am seeing provides, my seeking another opinion from his boss. He is overworked right now, he's informed me as much. It's not a timely date for the appt at my current rate of decline if I wind up only seeing his boss with a break inbetween. I hope to get a new medication either shortly (I've requested it again) or on the 14th. Well I have gone on a bit.. it is desperate straits here..

I am doing my best to cling to His Sacred Heart and find consolation therein.. to surrender to Providence.. I am just an ordinary person.. it's hard to escape from the natural feelings of fear and the physical pains of this, most of the time I am unable to, I am not so good. I know it's benefiting me in some ways to suffer like this spiritually, but I would never choose this in a million years if not forced to go through it.. I would far rather travel a gentler path of spiritual communions and living a simple life. I'm normally a private person.. but it's really benefitted me to have the prayers and support here and hear the suggestions... I appreciate everyone's prayers and consoling words from the bottom of my heart.

Well I have gone on awhile.. forgive me.. This is where things are right now. Just wanted to let folks know.

Hello, Shin!

Some of your symptoms sound like MS, has that been ruled out?

MS has mostly been ruled out due to the lack of any visible lesions in the MRI.
The article you mentioned, the one possibility out of them all -- neuropathy that is something I think that most likely needs to be explored further. When I last spoke to the neurologist he said he thought some sort of chemical imbalance was possible. I asked about the possibility of a brain tumor, which was too small to show up on the MRI, he said it was unlikely as it would have to be in just the right spot to affect all of my body as was being affected. And since my symptoms began in my face and the spread downwards and through my body, it's unlikely to be a spinal cord injury of some kind as they affect where the injury is and below rather than the head.
I had an EMG/NCV (nerve conduction study) where they stick ultra thin needles in you and study how well your nerves are affected by electrical stimulation, and I passed which is against some kinds of neuropathy. But this was very early on in my symptoms, though the study tends to be quite sensitive, I will likely have to get another one at some point. I need to discuss more with the doctor what the likely cause is and what can and can't be tested. I may have to get a lumbar puncture to see if there are chemical imbalances in the spinal fluid, but this has not been suggested by him yet and I think they want to have an idea of what to test and look for when they do it rather than just do the test for a general look.
I've been on sinement which is a dopamine increaser normally used for parkinsons, and it has had no effect. So testing for dopamine imbalance would likely not be necessary. Next will be another neurotransmitter type affecting medicine of some sort most likely. Either gabapentin or klonipin.. Well.. I am getting a crash course in neurology. I've never been the type to take medications unless absolutely necessary.. now it is.

Kyrie eleison.

Currently the only medication I am on that works is called baclofen, which is an anti-spasmodic and muscle relaxer. The first neurologist put me on it, the second said he frankly didn't know why it was working for my condition, which just makes me wonder all the more.

Well. I've become quite talkative today.

God keep everyone I pray.

It is very rare for a person to have such great humility to confess out loud that they do not want the suffering and if they could get out of it they would.
I offer my small sacrifices/fastings and sufferings asking God that he may deliver you from yours.
Your sharing has strengthened my soul.   God bless you.

FlosCarmeli, I have sent my genetics test kit in, it generally takes 8 weeks to process, it should definitely show something like HD or any other conditions. I will look for it. Thank you again.

My friends it's a little early to say, but I believe I may have turned a corner here and be on the road to recovery.

My tremors have died down to a much lower level, and the attacks of severe tremors have also become rare in the past few weeks.

Thank you so much for the prayers.

May God keep you all and help everyone all the more in every way and every time.

Thank you so much for the prayers. :D They are heartfelt.

I have a guess as to what the cause is.. it's just a guess at this point, so I hesitate to say.. But since asked, I will.

I've had the puzzling symptom of my tremors tending to get worse sooner or later after eating meals. I've been fasting to an extreme for the past number of months due to this. The doctors just shrugged at this and paid no attention to the symptom, they didn't seem to take it seriously or at least recognize it as something important to look into. Two neurologists, my family doctor, a nurse practitioner -- nothing.  The allergist thought maybe food intolerance but said that tremors would be an atypical reaction and left it at that. I struggled to get all the labwork done I wanted from the doctors, so I got some private lab tests done, expense being far from an issue outweighing the importance of it all.

Well after so many clean or innocuous lab tests, both doctor ordered and private, I finally got labwork back a couple days ago for a GI MAP, that looks for any bacterial, viral, or other pathogens in your digestive system. I got some postives for bacterial pathogens.

C. difficile, TOXIN A, C. difficile, TOXIN B, and h. pylori. were all flagged as high. I looked up C. difficile, and found animal testing had shown besides the usual symptoms of digestive problems, neurological problems can be caused by these. This, along with my symptoms becoming worse whenever eating, and the fact that a year ago I'd been doing quite poorly and had to treat myself with garlic, vitamin C over a long period of time and with antibiotics, would account for my not having enough good bacteria to combat off these bacterial pathogens and them in turn causing these problems that were only mitigated when they were not fed enough to propagate.

This is my guess. It's still just a guess, I certainly should research it more and will. It's one that may be somewhat verifiable unlike some other possibilities though. I see a gastroenterologist for the first time at the end of this week. What he'll think of it all I don't know.

These bacterial bathogens require very specific antibiotics to get rid of them, others will just cause them to get worse as they aren't much effected and take over where the good gut flora were. C. difficile can be fatal if it gets bad enough.

I still have to be cautious about eating but can eat a bit more than before, and while before it seemed the probiotics I took were not useful, I am now taking them with every meal and there appears likely to be some good cause/effect going on when I do that. I can eat somewhat more now before getting more tremors too.

So I think the guess has some potential to be correct, but whether the doctor will confirm it or not directly I can't say. I will say if I get a tailored antibiotic to take out these pathogens which I believe I should and will, and the tremors completely dissappear during receiving those medications, I will take that as confirmation.

Kyrie eleison. I have a lot of hymns and canticles I can almost hear -- I have a lot of hope. I certainly have resolved to be a more merciful and compassionate person in the future, praying for and receiving God's mercy I appreciate it a great deal more.

I am not out of the woods but if I keep on improving.. what a wonder it will be. :D Amen.

Shin-  your bowel is probably horrifically inflamed. Yes , you need oral vanco and and doxycycline for the c-diff and Yes you will need probiotics while you are on all of this antibiotic therapy. But to decrease symptoms, at least while you are healing, you need to be on a low fiber anti-inflammatory diet. Normally, veggies are a good thing, but for you they are probably  a cause for pain and symptoms. Eat as mildly as you can without fiber and see how you do. Meat and eggs are ok, some dairy can be an issue but some raw cheeses and yogurt is good. Eat like a baby. Watch out for grains as well. Avocados may be the only plant food you may be able to tolerate. I only know because I have experienced c-diff. The fasting periods are very healing. I'm glad that you have finally found a cause for your sufferings. Glycine is a good supplement to look into. A good diet online is  the GAPS diet.
God bless you

Thanks everyone.
Josefamenendez I will do my best to follow your advice. I am having a lot of yoghurt. I've never had so much before in my life.. At least the 32 oz containers will make good planters for the garden. I am taking probiotics with the yoghurt, and reading up on what are the best ones.
My gastroenterologist appt has been moved to the 1st, hopefully no more scheduling issues. I got the doctor I was first trying to get after a snafu with the choice I was offered when he was not available. This is quite a good result most likely, as he gets favorable reviews and his educational background is good too.
I am extremely thirsty all the time. I can hardly wait to receive some sort of treatment to help with everything. I have neither improved or declined in the past couple days.
Kyrie eleison.

Appointment with the gastoenterologist went well overall. We did not go into the neurological issues and just focused on treating the h. pylori and c. diff.

The decision was made to treat both at the same time, and the c. diff in an extended way because of that, so I will be on 3 different antibiotics, a proton pump inhibitor, and a whole lot of pepto bismol. The h. pylori anibiotics for 2 weeks, the c. diff for 4 all together.

And so I just ordered a ton more of refrigerated probiotics to go with all this. I should be starting the meds in a day or two.

Are you talking about the antibiotics, Shin?
If so, you might be experiencing a Herxheimer reaction, which is caused by the die-off of bacteria creating toxins that you are reacting to..do you have a fever with this? God bless you

Thank you folks. I needed those prayers.

It was a very difficult attack. I've largely recovered from it thankfully.

I've messaged my doctor with a request for an alternative treatment. This sort of reaction is not something I bear, so that is that.

I think that going back to my fasting and probiotics regimen is what I'll do regardless, it worked to some significant degree, perhaps if it's long term enough it will be enough.

You need to eradicate the c-diff somehow or else the good probiotics will not have a chance to repopulate the bowel.  The c-diff will gradually weaken you. Maybe there is a natural way to do this. I'll look into it.

Hi Shin,

Have you been tested for thyroid disease? Thyroid problems can cause tremors, though it's not common. Thyroid issues along with parasites can lead to big problems (I have both, but thankfully have never had tremors). Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is associated with low thyroid production, and Grave's disease is associated with too high thyroid production.

Will offer prayers for you.

In the past I've had some serious thyroid issues because they were untreated but they've fairly minor nowadays I think. I get my TSH levels checked regularly. I will get tested again soon to see if I even still need thyroid medication. I was tested for Hashimoto's, and that was not it though we thought it was for awhile -- hypothyroidism.

There's not much to report here, I'm a little worse this past week, just continuing to try dietary changes to see if that helps.

Not sure what the cause of it all is, c.diff, or perhaps some yeast inbalance in the gut that doesn't show up in tests, or something else entirely. Just trying bit by bit to find out what changes if different anti-yeast and anti-bacterial pathogen dietary changes are made.

I will see the head of the dept of neurology at the end of this month. I will be looking for a different gastroenterologist who has other solutions than antibiotics if it's possible to find one.

Very thankful for all the prayers and well wishes.

It's heartening to know there are folks praying for me and lifting me to God. May God keep and help you all in every way. :)

Title: Re: Two ER Visits Recently, Prayers Requested
Post by: shin on July 06, 2021, 10:15:28 PM
Again thank you so much. The prayers are so helpful.

I am reading up a lot about nutrition right now.

I am speculating the bad reaction after the antibiotics was either a herxheimer reaction (toxins released by dying bacteria all dying off at once) or some yeast/fungi taking over since all the good bacteria were killed off with the bad. I lean towards the latter explanation.

Still this is a bit grasping at straws but it's all I have. The hypothesis that toxins from pathogens in the gut are causing neurological problems.

So I am trying special diets that would treat gastrointestinal bacteria/yeast infections. High fiber, low carb/sugar, or no carb/sugar, or fasting.. whatever I can tolerate. No carbs, no sugars hypothetically means nothing to feed the pathogens. Also taking probiotics. I suspect the ones I'm trying that work best are because they are slow release. A probiotic before every meal appears to help. So need to look into this more and try out more natural solutions for these possible causes along with dietary changes.

In any case it's a fact that the muscle tremors respond to some degree to eating/diet and my taking probiotics. Perhaps this does not mean it's a gastrointestinal flora issue, but that's the most obvious seeming cause to me and only one I've got to work with until I or one of the doctors figures out something better.

There are some people that believe all sorts of health problems are caused by gut microbiome/flora problems, neurological issues of all kinds, mental disorders, fatigue, allergies, aches and pains, you name it. But it's a very unexplored health area, just like the brain, a whole lot that is just unknown.

I am praying a lot for folks in chronic pain these days. May God have so much, superabundant mercy on them. On the paraplegics, the invalids, the imprisoned, the homeless, the drug addicts, the sick, the alone, the elderly, the lost souls without the faith, upon the worst of the worst like myself, those most in pain and in need and most forgotten.. Lord have mercy, superabundant mercy, incomprehensible, mercy, all the more beyond our imagination. Through Thy Sacrifice, Lord have mercy.

'Let us abandon ourselves to Him, trust in Him, despoil ourselves of everything, and God will clothe us after His own way.'

Dear Shin,

If you are going the dietary route, I would even eliminate the high fiber as a trial as it feeds the (bad) gut bacteria as well as inflaming an already inflamed bowel. As a strict anti-inflammatory diet trial why not just eat meat for two weeks? Butter water and salt allowed -that's it. ( no condiments either) If SIBO is your problem it will calm it down.
Nobody expects you to eat  like this forever. Just see if it works and then start adding foods.
If you also have upper GI pain/acid Mastic gum is very good for H Pylori.
PS If these things don't impact your symptoms, you may be a candidate for a fecal/bacterial transplant. They have a very high success rate.

Your prayer was the most heartfelt thing I've read in a long time. Thank you, Shin

As for probiotics, my daughter found out some gave her inflammation so she found what the ingredient was  that was not good for her gut and found that those that are to be refrigerated were w/o the ingredient and had to delivered to the house, cold.  I will try to see what that ingredient was. My daughter has crohens. All grains must be eliminated, all are contaminated. Even if the label says GMO free, it is still contaminated.

The filler and other ingredients section has cost me a lot of money as I've mistakenly bought supplements only later to find issues.

Well, I think I finally have it down pat enough to at least have enough electrolyte supplements for water fasts. That will have to temporarily be on hold as I recover from the last fast, it can't be helped though things get worse somewhat quicker.

21st is my next doctor's appts. Head of the department. No high hopes here, but perhaps some new clue to pursue at least. Kyrie eleison.

Well.. I don't know what to say. There's no real news. As there was no real doctor. He showed up for about five minutes, apologized for being late, then couldn't get out fast enough -- tripped over a stool on his way out the door.

The head of neurology left it all to a PA-C. And the followup appt that was scheduled I found out later was again with a PA-C.

What I got out of those five minutes from him, was "There are many things we don't understand."

... The difference between the reviews online and the actual product in this case was.. quite extreme. I had rather hoped better of online doctor reviews.

I have a few more small tests coming up, and will await the genetics testing results that should come in in a few weeks. I also have a referral to an endocrinologist now, who perhaps I can persuade to look at the thyroid and do more than just a TSH test.

Kyrie eleison. Thank you again for all the prayers, well wishes and advice.

While my condition is worsening in some ways it is easier to bear, and I am not losing sleep at this time as I was previously, this makes a lot of difference. As different muscles are affected, it becomes easier or worse. I will keep working on trying supplements and the remedies that are available to me.

Perhaps a PA-C will be more willing to order tests outside of the routine. I must think of the positive side of it all. It is all within Providence's plans.

Well I've rambled on a bit. My mother may drive out to visit again for a few weeks, she is a senior citizen, in a few more years driving will likely be no longer for her. Prayers please for her safe trip.

God keep us all, and help us in our every need my friends.

Shin,

I do hope that you can have a TSH test. Though it's mainly women who have thyroid problems, men can get it too.

There's natural doctor (naturopath, I think) named Tom Rofrono who I have been reading lately. I ordered his book from Amazon called, "The Free Diet." He tries to help people who have thyroid and parasite issues; namely, Blasto parasites, which is different from your parasite of course, but it may be a similar situation.

Here's a link to one of his articles. I tried his diet for a few days, and it really helped a lot. But since my husband is a vegetarian, and doesn't want meat in the house, I wasn't able to follow the diet very well. It's a strict diet. Here's a link:

God bless you and I wish you well.

Dear Shin, praying for your mother, that she will have a safe journey and an enjoyable visit with you.

About the thyroid. It is mysterious to me, but I know that mine has been troublesome since my youth, low energy, a heart attack at 49 and another more recently, and deteriorating health since then, including strokes, but the most troublesome for me is the tiredness.

About 3 years ago we were holidaying in the place where we now live. We were walking in the street and passing a shop-front naturopath; my husband said "let's go in and check this out". We made an appointment. His specialty is homeopathy. This I don't understand either, but found it worked for me, when no endocrinolist knew any solution but "remove the thyroid and be on medication forever". No thanks, I'll keep my thyroid and take it to the grave!

I didn't stay on the treatment because we returned home and lost contact. But this year we moved back and my husband insisted that I go back to the homeopathist. No pathology tests (numbers on paper), just deep questioning and observation, and one dose of the remedy every second day (easy peasy). It works for me and I have not been better for a long time.

Doctors deal in sickness, this naturopath deals in health. It is a different mindset.

Come September and I see that PA-C again, at least the followup is not long from today. Also see my primary care doctor shortly too. It's not a comfortable feeling knowing you can't take antibiotics without a very bad reaction -- there's a lot that only they can take care of, I will have to be especially careful for awhile. Hello Shin,

Sorry to hear about your recent doctor appointment.  What a disappointment but don't give up hope!  I was reading this story that made me think about you.  First, this woman had to go to the ER for a bleeding ulcer caused by H. pylori.  After the operation, her doctor put her on various antibiotics but her symptoms and infection continued for 14 years.

Then, she heard about black seed/black seed oil from the black cuмin plant.  Instead of buying black seed capsules she actually made her own capsules.  She used size-0 gel capsules because they hold 500 mg of ground black seed, which she found was the daily amount to get rid of the H. pylori.  She didn't have any side effects and the black seed is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.  She started to feel better within weeks and by 6 months her symptoms of 14 years left.  The doctor also did a biopsy and it showed the infection was gone.  She still takes a capsule daily but I don't know if it safe to be on it long-term.  I did a quick search and saw it could cause liver or kidney damage.  Maybe you can look into to this and check with your doctor, of course.

Hope you are having a good visit and your mother has a a safe return trip.

Shin: did you check with www.criticalhealthnews.com  They will ask many questions, no cost til they give you their assessment and then they offer their products.  When you said hic cups, is this right?  That is a question that ask of a symptom.

Oh, I just meant hiccups as a manner of speaking. It's just an expression I use. Apologies.

My main symptom is muscle tremors and tics as a symptom now, some exagerrated reflexes and lack of control. Constant muscle shaking, whether I move or not. Gradually getting worse, changes from different muscles to different muscles. As time goes by it affects bigger ones and gets more widespread. It can be very hard to bear, or not too bad, as it changes, but sadly the overall progression is a continual worsening.

Thankfully the pins and needles sensation have not occured in a long time. Thankfully Parkinsons, ALS almost certainly ruled out. A cousin of mine has Parkinsons. MS, still highly unlikely, thankfully, but less unlikely than the former two. The neurologist ruled against MS due to lack of brain lesions seen in an MRI.

I am suspecting all these symptoms are due to some sort of gut pathogen. But I can't confirm it with testing. I suspect it to be that due to it worsening after eating, and worsening severely after antibiotics. At first I thought it was due to c. diff., which I tested postive for, but after the bad reaction when taking antibiotics to take on the c. diff. I am not sure. It could still be due to that, but I suspect some sort of yeast or fungal toxin in the gut, since antibiotics would kill everything off and let it spread. Or if it is c. diff, the die off perhaps caused the big downhill slide by releasing a lot of toxins at once.

But this is all speculation as doctors have not confirmed it. There's a lot they don't know, an atypical reaction like muscle tremors due to a gut pathogen is quite possible but hard to confirm and hard to treat.

I have just ordered a new lab test to try to more thoroughly test for gut pathogens. This is on my own. That's what's next, along with my trying out various over the counter supplements and medications meant to combat gut pathogens -- especially candida, yeasts, and fungi.

Worsening symptoms the past couple days. I hope I'm not moving towards being unable to sleep again. I don't know how life will be tolerable if it gets that bad. More muscles are affected at once now, and larger ones, and I am having more difficulties with sudden jerks and loss of control.

I see my family doctor in a week, and a Physician's Assistant Certified early next month. Neither of these are at all promising.

ALS is rarely centered in places other than the brain.  I don’t want to be a killjoy, but have you been checked for it again?

I am supposed to have another EMG test scheduled, now that my symptoms are more severe it may show something.

I still am not experiencing muscle weakness, which is a good sign at least against ALS, as I believe this would be a first symptom, and the tremors later on.

If you suspect a pathogen, it might be worth trying ivermectin, as the more they study this the more they find out that it kills every manner of pathogen, virus, and even cancer.

Hello Shin

How are you doing?  Not sure if it was mentioned before, I was wondering if you have tried the AIP/autoimmune protocol diet or avoided food in the nightshade family.  Sometimes it can help.

Thank you for asking FlosCarmeli.

Forgive my rambling I am typing this as quickly as I can, can't concentrate on proofing too much.

I am gradually worsening here, muscle tremors seem to be moving back and more strongly towards the upper body where they are harder to bear. Today is better than yesterday though, that is a relief.

Thank you and everyone for the prayers. So deeply appreciated. They keep life livable.

Thank you for reminding me about the AIP diet. That reminder has helped! I do tend to be somewhat worse after having anything with tomatoes or potatoes in it and I avoided them for awhile. I am going to have to pay more attention to the AIP diet, and simply to elimination dieting to try to see what effects different foods have and to figure out why. I hadn't realized cayenne pepper was a nightshade too, I've been taking a lot of that lately, will cut it out.

Some people even have neurological issues when having dairy products, besides gluten, besides nightshades.. if I genuinely have to eliminate all those.. That's a lot to eliminate.

Still it's hard to tell for sure what's food related or not, and even more why what ingredient in one food or another is detrimental and why.

I will try mono food diets for short periods and see what I can see. Perhaps I will try the 5 lbs of carrots diet, though, that is quite a lot of carrots, and I have not been diagnosed with cancer at least thankfully. Still ready to try anything.. and there actually seem to be very few good tests for early detection of cancer. Looking at private labs, cancer tests to order are fewer than I can count on the fingers of one hand. And for more sweeping big testing -- Usually doctors don't want to do the MRIs and all that until you're showing signs of late stage which of course by then it can be far too late.

I am 30 days in on an almost 90 day course of anti-fungal medication. Oral anti-fungals can be deadly to take if you are one of the not quite rare enough people who have a bad reaction to them, so far as I can tell I have escaped a bad reaction for now. If the anti-fungal medication doesn't work, and so far, no effect for the good either, I will perhaps try one alternative anti-fungal medicine. If that doesn't work, I will write off yeast/fungi as a possible cause of my problems. I am starting to look at the ingredients on the supplements I am taking that help and are anti-fungal, trying to look at alternative reasons why they might help.

I've been taking quite large amounts of large varieties of supplements, trying everything that might help, an ever expanding list. Big handfulls of pills before every meal.

For example I've tried, broccoli sprout extract (can be anti-h-pylori), apple cider vinegar, L-Glutamine, papaya enzyme, CoQ10, quercetin bromelain, melatonin, fish oil, licorice root, turmeric, glocosamine and chondrotin, vitamin B complex, vitamin D, molybdenum chelate, "Cytokine Suppress", "CandEase Matrix", Grape Seed Extract, "Liver Support", "Fruits & Veggies", Niacinimide, Black Seed Oil, cayenne pepper, oregano, garlic, and various other herbs caked on my meals.. and different brands of probiotics..

I don't know the synergy of all this stuff, nor what amount to take overall besides to not go too much above the recommended dosages, which could rather be too little to have effect given it's all no-prescription. But if overdone especially in combination with other supplements there's the possibility of harm too, so I take care.

Normally I am not the type to take more than vitamin C and zinc, and this only for a cold, but in the past I think I took too much of even that, as well as calcium tablets. From what I've read it is possible to take too much of even quite benign supplements like Vitamin C, despite what many people say. Moderation is important. Well I am just watching the effects as best I can and not going too far over any dosage recommendations.

While it appears overall that some help reduce the severity of my muscle tremors, there is no indication that they are doing anything other than reducing the severity of the symptoms -- in other words, no stopping of the overall decline, reversing, or curing the actual cause. At least it is a gradual decline so far.

So.. I don't know what the future holds or how bad this is going to get. Prayers for all of you praying for me.. May God lift you up in your every difficulty.. and console you in all.

It has just been the feast of St. Michael and All Angels.. I just want to say the Chaplet of St. Michael is a great prayer.

Thank you for asking and for the prayers. May God keep you.

Everyone praying for me is specially in my prayers too.

I am OK. I am bearing up well, even though physically I am still very gradually declining, mentally I am well adjusted to dealing with it all now.

I got some bad news back from the genetics testings, though so far at least my doctors do not think I have the problems I am genetically more susceptible to, I am according to the tests more likely to get certain conditions no one wishes to have if it can possibly be avoided.

I may post about the genetics testing more.

So far nothing happening no medications I've tried have helped. I will try some more in the coming months God willing.

Thank you my friends. You have my prayers too. I truly count on prayers, there is nothing like prayer for every trial in life, every little thing and every great troublesome cross. I do not think I would do too well on my own.

I am doing alright, I am used to this illness nowadays, so I just live on. I have my good days and my not so good days. Periodically I have a new doctor's appointment or whatnot. I do not appear to be worsening significantly in the past two months, that is a hopeful sign.

I do not believe I would be in such a good state if not for the prayers I've received here. I can't quite put into words quite how much I value the gift of the prayers for my health and soul.

May God keep you and help you and your families in all, in this hard times for those who hold the Faith.

Kyrie eleison.
