    • I would like to become a tertiary, but the only traditional religious order that I know of (other than the SSPX) are the Dominicans.  While I have deep respect for this order, I don't think it's the right one for me, I'm thinking the Carmelite order would be a more appropriate choice for me.  However, I can't seem to find a traditional order, does anyone know of a traditional Carmelite order or some other traditional order?  Thanks in advance.

    I think I can help you with information on the Traditional Carmelite Third Order as I have been a member for 25 years now.

    There are a number of tertiaries from various countries who support the Bishops and priests of the Resistance, and we keep in regular contact despite the distance.

    • I know of people who are traditionalists who are part of the third of order of the Carmelite order. Of course you would have to be a member of a parish that is recognized by the Catholic Church.

    I don't believe that the Carmelites are tied to the parish system, being a religious order.

    The purpose of a third order is for the people to grow in the holiness of a particular religious community without taking the vows of  poverty chastity and obedience of that particular community, yet living the charism and holiness of the community itself. If you want to join the Carmelites tehn they require that you be a member in good standing of a Catholic parish.

    • Hola. Disculpen, pero no se necesita ser miembro de ninguna parroquia para ser terciario. En tiempos normales, los terciarios seguramente estarían en una parroquia o en el convento al que están ligados. Formarian una Fraternidad, pero tanto la regla de la TOSF como la de los carmelitas, contempla la posibilidad de ser terciario aislado. La regla TOSF tiene en cuenta a aquellas personas que están lejos de un convento o monasterio y desean ser terciarios. La regla carmelita permite ser terciario sin ser miembro de una fraternidad. Por eso es que hay terciarios franciscanos donde está la FSSPX y estos terciarios son aislados, salvo algunas excepciones donde hay varias fraternidades, como Francia (500 miembros TOSF), Canadá y Estados unidos si no me equivoco.

    • About a year ago I heard of a Servite Father in Florida starting a traditional isolated (in your own home) tertiary order.
    Servites are devoted to Our Mother of Sorrows.
    If this is of interest I'll try to re-locate it.
