They sang it at SGG; and I was told by parishioners it goes back to the era of their parents.
But the music is inferior, trivial, sing-song. It bothered me every time. There is so much better music that people could be singing -- like Aquinas's hymns.
In Catholic worship the use of music and art should uplift the mind to God, the Author of all beauty. Leave the 'entertainment' music to the Novus Ordo and the Protestants.
By the way, had anyone noticed that at SGG Fr. C was mixing modern stuff, with overblown, musical comedy-style harmonies, in with the good choral music? Or didn't anybody have any opinions of their own on the subject?
