 I don't always get textual sarcasm.

As for your mom's barrage. I've heard modernist parents say such things so many times that it no longer surprises me. Don't lose heart. You're doing the right thing.

I sometimes think that I would be better off disassociating myself from my family entirely. I'm sick of the modernist vomit that proceeds from their mouths.

sometimes a step back is in order for sanity and to get some relief from  :devil2:, plus increase prayer.....

A pencil skirt is a fitted skirt that is typically worn in an office/business setting. Some people pretend they are modest because they go to the knee. I went to a professional  dress seminar in college and these were promoted .

The truth is, they are very immodest.  The cut of the fabric is straight like a pencil . Women's bodies aren't 'cut' straight. You can figure out the rest.  Thank you Mary Tyler Moore.

  • Congradulations on your new job! I have wanted to be done with my job for quite awhile now as well, as it was very much a place where a Catholic lady was out of place and oppressed. I've been pleading in prayer for some time now and I think within a week or so I will be able to put in my notice, move, and start making money in a way much more fitting way. :)
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

PW, Jesus told us that even family members would be divided over Him. I know it must hurt when your own mother looks down upon you not being another typical follower of the secular world. She obviously doesn't understand what Traditional Catholicism really is. Only about 50 people even follow that so-called "Pope" from Kansas! Those 50 people don't even make up 1/4 of the Traditional Catholics in the world.

Prayers for you and your mother, PW.

Don't make up a quarter of trads?  Why 1/4?

    How about 1/4 of 1/10 of 1%?

The guy doesn't have a following at all! He's a joke.  I think he has his mom and maybe a few other people -- that's it. There are tens of thousands of Trads.

  • Right, he is a joke.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • Don't be disheartened Penitent Woman, God wills all things for the good of those that love Him. The prince of this world will always make sure to use those under his influence to wound & persecute those that are working, by faithfully serving God, to destroy his tyranny over men. The following is a quotation I've always found comforting from Hilaire Belloc's Essays of A Catholic:

"One thing in this world is different from all others. It has a personality & a force. It is recognised, & when recognised most violently loved or hated. It is the Catholic Church. Within that household the human spirit has roof & hearth. Outside it, is the Night.

    In hac urbe lux sollenis,
    Ver aeternum, pax perennis
    Et aeterna gaudia

Within this city are festive light, eternal truth, continual peace & everlasting joys.

Jen- Thank you. That is wonderful that you have a new plan. Yay for new beginnings! :-)

One of the things I am really excited for is cooking for more than just myself.  They are giving me grocery money to use and want me to plan it all out. I have about 10 dinners planned out and lunch for the younger 2 who aren't in school.  I need to figure out what sort of things the older two take in their lunches, and see how much time I will have for breakfast. Not sure if they are light breakfast people or like something bigger.  I think it would be nice for the kids to have some protein in the morning like eggs if there is time. :-)  I have an overnight oatmeal recipe for the slow cooker that might be handy.

She is a VERY liberal NO 'Catholic", very modern and on board with any pro-gαy, liberal cause and was trying to get others during trip to read that terrible 50 Shades/Gray tripe.......

I cannot tell you how many times I've been told I need to read that awful book.  My co-workers would randomly read parts of it out loud to me.

Thanks.  Those words are so true and indeed very comforting. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed. I've been inconsistent in my prayer. Time to stop that.

  • Matthew, where do you get your numbers? Are they for the US or worldwide?

I don't doubt you, but I'm wondering if that's a guess or if there are statistics available.
