The "trope" which is sung today (1st Sunday of Advent) right before the Introit, telling the story of where Gregorian Chant came from --
Is that story true, or is it poetic/apocryphal?
Did the Holy Ghost truly descend on St. Gregory in the form of a dove, during the inspiration he received for Gregorian Chant?
I mean, Gregorian chant is obviously heavenly, unique, sublime, and inspired by God -- but did it happen as the lyrics of the trope described?
I'd like to know --
