Title: The Tetragrammaton
Post by: Dolores on November 19, 2013, 10:17:38 AM
Is there any Church teaching on the Tetragrammaton?  What is the true Name of God?  Usually, the Hebrew is translated as "YHWH," which often rendered "Yahweh."  Exodus 3:14 tells us this means "I AM WHO AM."  This has always confused me, and I was curious about it.

My Douay Rheims says ( in footnotes) that the true name of God has been lost with time.

There was a directive that came out from the Vatican recently that said that that name is not to be used during the liturgy nor is it to be used in the newer translations of the Bible.
