My spiritual father, so to speak, is Fr. Frederick Faber. Every day, I dip into one or another of his books for spiritual reading. This month, it is At the Foot of the Cross, The Sorrows of Mary. It's what I would call his most personal book, and in spots is actually painful to read. He goes deep, deep, deep, into the mysteries of grief and suffering, all through the lens of Mary's Sorrows.
