  • Does anyone know who is the priest or anything about him? I'm trying to find out where the video came from. I have the physical CD and case with a picture. If anyone would like to see the case design let me know.

  • What's so odd about this particular Latin Mass?  I don't have time to watch the whole 60+ minute video.

Spend a few minutes and skip around....very odd indeed!

  • For one thing, he is saying out loud all the prayers that are supposed to be silent. Is that your point, OP?

  • This reminds us me of the Tridentine Mass circuit priests of the 1980s, like the ORCM--very poor Latin pronunciation and liturgical gestures as well as makeshift vestments. Time Warp!

  • Aside from the extreme signs of the crosses he makes, all I see is that there are no servers so he's celebrating the Mass without them, which means he does a little extra by all those things they would normally do. Obviously this Mass is in someone's living room or basement or ?. Under the circuмstances, just skimming through most of it, I don't see anything odd.

I wouldn't mind getting his blessing - those signs of the cross are pretty awesome lol

  • Yea that's part. Singing of the priest and nun. His movements. Look how he makes the sign of the cross. Skip to 25:30 and you will see. I think the priest might have some sort of condition

  • It's not the oddest. I was exaggerating. I just want to know who the priest or where this is at. On the CD it says the producer and organist is Sr. Mary Alphonsa HSSB.

  • It might be from Canada. There is an ex-Redemptoristine nun living as a hermit there & I note that OLPH is on the vestments and chapel decorations. I cannot find her website at the moment.

  • Yes, it's a little strange, jarring, even, but at that point, I'd just have to be content that it is the TLM being celebrated with devotion.

My first impulse is to think that he might be hard of hearing, and doesn't realize how loudly he is speaking.

Unless he is doing something that is materially contrary to the rubrics --- is he? --- I don't see a problem here.

  • To me it looks like the priest has sort of disorder that makes him make movements like that. Maybe tourettes. I don't know. I just want to know the origin of it.

  • I think it is quite beautiful.

I agree. Wish I could find such an odd Mass.

Yeah, I think it's due to some sort of physical or neurological disorder. Maybe Parkinson's? The priest looks pretty old.

  • It seems like Parkinsons, but instead of retiring this priest decided to provide Catholics with Mass. If Fr is saying portions of the Canon aloud, it was the rule for a time after V2, but perhaps deafness.
