  • From The Missal According to the Carmelite Rite in Latin and English for Every Day in the Year (Rome: Vatican Polyglot Press, 1953)  here is the formulary of the Mass for the Feast of the Most Pure Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary as found in the Carmelite Missal.

Note the difference between the Collect and Introit of this Mass and the ones found in the Roman Missal.

  • The tome The Mirror of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Speculum Beatae Mariae Virginis) and The Psalter of Our Lady (Psalterium Beatae Mariae Virginis) (trans. Sr. Mary Emmanual, O.S.B.; St. Louis, MO: B. Herder Book Co., 1932), which contains these two opuscules of the Seraphic Doctor, St. Bonaventure, is to be highly recommended.

The Psalterium is the most interesting, since it is a Marian adaptation of the Roman Psalter. St. Bonaventure emended the initial verses of the Psalms so as to make them into praises and prayers to Our Lady. The Seraphic Doctor emended the Canticles of the Divine Office as well, and he even adapted the Athanasian Creed, the English translation of which follows:

  • Here is a beautiful adaptation of the celebrated Ambrosian Hymn Te Deum written by the great Seraphic Doctor, Saint Bonaventure: to be found in the latter of his works in the tome The Mirror of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Speculum Beatae Mariae Virginis) and The Psalter of Our Lady (Psalterium Beatae Mariae Virginis) (trans. Sr. Mary Emmanual, O.S.B.; St. Louis, MO: B. Herder Book Co., 1932).

This is most appropriate for this Feast Day and for the devotion of all devout children and servants of Our Blessed Lady.

  • From St. Bernard's Sermons for the Seasons & Principal Festivals of the Year: Translated from the Original Latin by a Priest of Mount Melleray, (Vol. III.; Westminster, MD: The Carroll Press, 1950), here is the celebrated Sermon De aquæductu preached on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and which many Saints and spiritual masters have cited when speaking of Our Lady as Mediatress of all graces.
