  • From The Missal According to the Carmelite Rite in Latin and English for Every Day in the Year (Rome: Vatican Polyglot Press, 1953), here is the formulary of the Mass for the Feast of the Most Pure Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary as found in the Carmelite Missal.

This Mass is identical to the older Mass Omnis gloria in honor of the Most Pure Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to be found in the appendix Missæ propriæ quæ in aliquibus locis celebrari possunt in the Missale Romanum; to be kept on the Saturday after the Octave of Corpus Christi. The new Mass Adeamus replaced this Mass where it was kept by Apostolic Indult when Pope Pius XII promulgated the New Mass and Office of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary and placed it upon the Universal Calendar of the Roman Church.

The Carmelites of the old Observance, however, were allowed to keep the Mass Omnis gloria but on the 22nd of August and not on the Saturday after the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was their former custom.

Wow.  Thanks, Hobbles, for that information !  I did not know.  Does that mean that the Carmelites celebrate the Most Pure Heart of Mary on the 22nd instead of after the Sacred Heart?

Good to have you back :)

That is my understanding. In the typical edition of the Carmelite Breviary published in 1938(?), the Office for the Most Pure Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary was still in its old place, but in the hand Missal cited above the Mass for this Feast takes the place of the Mass Audeamus instituted by Pope Pius XII for today's Feast Day. It is my guess that they must have also done the same thing for the Office.

  • From the Manuale C.Ss.R. (New York: Provincial Residence, 1955), here is the beautiful prayer whereby Pope Pius XII, by his supreme authority, consecrated the human race unto the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Perhaps it was this Consecration that endued the Holy Rosary with the exceeding great efficacy and unspeakable power that we witness in the lives of countless of Catholics, especially in the present age.

  • From The Daily Missal and Liturgical Manual with Vespers for Sundays and Feasts revised by Rev. Fr. J. Dukes, S.J. (Leeds, England: Laverty & Sons, Ltd., 1957), here is a rare formulary for the Mass of the Feast of the Interior Life of Our Lady, which shows the marvels of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary which only Our Lord Himself can properly fathom.

Take special note of the Sequence proper to this formulary.

Thank you Hobbledehoy. My good friend from church is going to come over to say the rosary with my family tonight, and I printed this out for us!
