I'm scheduled to make a general confession this upcoming Monday or Tuesday. It will be my first general confession.

I'm wondering how long it should take (10 mins? 15? 30?).

The priest knows I am scrupulous and he told me not to make mountains out of mole hills.

Should I confess my sins in chronological order or in the sequence of the Ten Commandments?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I did mine in the order of the Ten Commandments. It was easier for me to not forget anything.

A general confession is a confession during which you confess all the sins you have committed from the age of reason to the present (rather than the sins you have committed since your last Confession). So, of course, the time it takes will depend on what you have to confess, and how long your confessor takes in giving your spiritual advice before he absolves you.. So it depends on both of you, and of course whether there is a long queue or you have made a special appointment for this.

Interesting! I have never thought about such a thing as the order in which you confess. You might just pour your heart out, or you might confess in any order you choose, or in no order at all. Also if you make mountains out of molehills the priest is there to direct you, no matter what. So pray, hope and don't worry. All will be well. I will pray for you.
