  • I found a woodcut in my missal of The Fourteen Holy Helpers along with a description of which illness (conditions) each are patrons of on the adjacent page.  However, there are no prayers to accompany it.

I was wondering if there is a specific prayer to The Fourteen Holy Helpers or is it just a matter of saying devotional prayers to each and any one saint that you wish to pray to?

  • Dear htl25,

My husband and I daily pray a litany to the 14 Holy Helpers which can be found on catholictradition.org.  (Due to an embarrassing lack of computer skill, I am unable to provide the link.)

  • I believe this is the illustration and information in question. The Litany that follows in the next post is all that I could find that is specifically for the Fourteen Holy Helpers:

From The Saint Andrew Daily Missal with Vespers for Sundays and Feasts by Dom Gaspar Lefebvre, O.S.B., of the Abbey of St- André (Bruges, Belgium: Liturgical Apostolate of the Abbey of St-André, 1956), here is some information about the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.

  • From the tome Kyrie Eleison: Two Hundred Litanies with Historico-Liturgical Introduction and Notes by Rev. Fr. Benjamin Francis Musser, O.F.M. (Westminster, MD: The Newman Bookshop, 1944), here is a Litany in honor of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.

  • Here's one I use for the 14 Holy Helpers~

    http://www.catholicharboroffaithandmorals.com

My heart is bursting with love for the 14 Holy Helpers; I can't get enough.  It's like being a kid again--I think of them while going upstairs and all of a sudden I start running up, happy and thrilled.

Seriously, even typing about them is making my heart race.

(and of course thanks darling Hobbles)

My computer illiteracy is pretty awful, but here's how I do links:

I just copy the address on the little strip on top which always starts with      http://    by hand and then type it out.  It doesn't work if I can't tell whether there is a one or an "el" or if the address is super long.
  LOL, try it, if I can do it, ANYBODY can!

  • Thank you for the replies with such great enthusiasm.  Yes the woodcut that you have scanned is precisely the one I am referring to.  I absolutely love the Cramer woodcuts.  I just found it odd to see the information about The Fourteen Holy Helpers in the missal and not have a prayer to accompany it.  I thought I might have missed it in another section of the missal or a page was missing.  But it seems that this is not the case.

  • The glorious martyr St. Pantaleon suffered having his hands nailed to his head!  Pray for us St. Pantaleon.

I love those woodcuts, also.  IMO they are the work of a very orderly mind, like that of a holy surgeon.
