Thank you Hobbledehoy. I haven't read the texts yet, but I am surprised to read that traditionally today's feast is dedicated to the Maternity of the Virgin Mary, as explained in the very first lines of the first post.

And I thought that the Novus Ordo "expunged" the Feast of the Circuмcision. Though of the emphasis is quite different.
