  • Here is the Mass for the Feast of the Circuмcision of Our Lord and the Octave of the Nativity, from the The Saint Andrew Daily Missal with Vespers for Sundays and Feasts by Dom Gaspar Lefebvre, O.S.B., of the Abbey of St- André (Bruges, Belgium: Liturgical Apostolate of the Abbey of St-André, 1956).

  • Here is a commentary upon the Mass for the Feast of the Circuмcision of Our Lord and the Octave of the Nativity, taken from the late Cardinal Schuster's The Sacramentary (Liber Sacramentorum): Historical and Liturgical Notes on the Roman Missal (vol. I, trans. Arthur Levelis-Marke; New York: Benziger Brothers, 1924).

  • From the great Rev. Father Cornelius  J. Ryan's The Epistles of the Sundays and Festivals with an Introduction, Notes and Moral Reflections, (Vol. I; Dublin: M. H. Gill and Son, Ltd., 1932), here is a commentary upon the Epistle lesson of the Mass for the Feast of the Circuмcision of Our Lord and the Octave of the Nativity.

  • Thank you Hobbledehoy. I haven't read the texts yet, but I am surprised to read that traditionally today's feast is dedicated to the Maternity of the Virgin Mary, as explained in the very first lines of the first post.

And I thought that the Novus Ordo "expunged" the Feast of the Circuмcision. Though of the emphasis is quite different.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • Inspired by Hobbledehoy, I decided to put the chants of the Masses he puts up, whenever they're available. For today's Feast, the chants are mostly the same as the Third Mass of Christmas, except for the Alleluia:
