According to the common teaching of the Doctors and Saints (see for e.g. St. Dominic Savio "From his book The Life of St. Dominic Savio, St. John Bosco had this to say of St. Dominic Savio (the teenage saint who died in his 15th year): "The thought of saving souls for God was never out of his mind." St. Dominic Savio, (1842-1856), in a serious conversation with one of his companions, gave several reasons for his apostolic zeal in "saving souls": 1. My companion's soul has been redeemed by Jesus Christ. 2. We are all brothers and so we must love each other's souls. 3. God urges us to help each other. 4. If I manage to save one soul, I also ensure the salvation of my own." https://olrl.org/misc/winsouls.shtml) if we contribute toward the salvation of other souls, we will also very likely persevere in grace - and often sin mortally no more - until the end, and by the grace of God, our own souls will be saved as well. The Chaplet of St. Gertrude, which Our Lord Jesus originally inspired for the speedy deliverance of all the Souls in Purgatory, and which Mother Church expanded to include living sinners, including dying persons, is a wonderful way by which we can save many souls, and thus hopefully our own as well! What Jesus really wants is for all of us to learn to love God and our neighbor selflessly, as best we can; this is what He calls Holy Love. And here's a wonderful video of the Chaplet of St. Gertrude. And as we speak of Spiritual Communion, to constantly offer the Body and Blood of Jesus to the Eternal Father, in spiritual union with all the Holy Masses in the world, is almost like a spiritual Mass, and a way for us to participate in Calvary all the time, right from wherever we are! The simple acclamation of love, "Jesus, Mary, I Love You! Save Souls" also releases grace from God's Heart. But spiritual offerings of the Most Precious Blood are among the most powerful prayers. See the text of the prayer here, http://mtep.com/index.html from the Mission to Empty Purgatory below. The Main Prayer of This Chaplet:Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus Christ,in union with all the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.A youtube video explaining other prayers in the chaplet below.
"And as to yourself, tell them that because you are imperfect, weak and infirm, you stand in need of Communion." (Introduction to the Devout Life, St. Francis)
