Title: The Apparitions of Our Lady of Laus to Bl. Benoîte Rencurel

Recently, I heard a story about this apparition of Our Lady of Laus. I had never heard of it before and the story is incredible. But I need some help if anyone may know more about this and can point me in the right direction. The part of this story that stuck out to me is this: at some point during these apparitions the young woman was being challenged and questioned about the Catholic Church by five protestants. They ask her if they needed to become Catholic in order to be saved and she didn't answer them, instead she quickly walked away not wanting to engage them any longer. She was very young when these apparitions occurred so I think it was probably a mixture of reasons why she didn't say something. Nonetheless, later on, The Blessed Virgin appears to her and tells her that if she had told them that they needed to become Catholic three of them would have done so. I cannot find this story anywhere so far in the things I've seen about this particular apparition. Has anyone ever heard this before? Is it possible that the story is part of another apparition?
I am certain that this is the apparition and young woman I was told this happened to. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, since the Conciliar sect, and even most people in the Catholic Church before Vatican II, stopped telling people (and believing) that they must convert to the Catholic Church.  Father Feeney saw this going on.  Bergoglio has now taken it to the extreme of claiming that it's "bad" and forbidden to "proselytize".

Absolutely. With the way the changes of V2 were accepted without almost any resistance(pun wasn't intended but I chuckled) it is no surprise that people stopped doing this. And that's why I'm reaching out on here because I think this particular instance is a good example to tell people about and I'm hoping someone may have a source to corroborate what I was told. So far cant find this in anything written about this apparition. And I'm thinking its possible that the story I relayed above isnt part of this apparition. The whole message of Our Lady of Laus is the conversion of sinners, and Benoîte Rencurel seems to have strived to do this. Maybe this happened in the beginning of these appearances and it could have been the lesson she needed to learn? 🤷‍♂️

This apparition was only "approved" by Benedict XVI, and the "seers" were "beatified" by John Paul 2.

Sure, but the alleged revelations took place long ago, in the late 17th century.  Does anyone know whether the local bishop weighed in on it?  Just because Padre Pio wasn't canonized until JP2 doesn't mean he wasn't legit.

I never heard of this apparition. 54 years of visions.!! Wow! Seems like there are many web pages on the French side of things. Firefox translate.

Benoîte, a young girl like any other
1647: Benoîte Rencurel was born in Saint-Etienne d'Avançon in a modest family. A contemporary of King Louis XIV, she lived through a time troubled by political, social and religious tensions.
After the death of her father in 1654, she was forced to work as a shepherdess. Before starting to travel the mountains with her flocks, she asks her mother for a rosary. Knowing neither how to read nor write, she prays all day long and thus becomes a true contemplative.
Simple and full of life, she is close to the people of her village and does not hesitate to give her food to children poorer than herself.
1664: start of a long relationship
May 1664: after hearing a homily from her priest, Benoîte felt a deep desire to meet the Mother of Mercy.
Shortly after, Saint Maurice appears to him (her)and tells him that his wish will be granted.
From the next day, a “beautiful lady” appeared to him daily for four months in Vallon des Fours, near Saint-Etienne.
To prepare her for her future mission, she provides her with intensive education which transforms her behavior and her spiritual life.
On August 29, the beautiful lady revealed her identity: “I am Lady Mary, the Mother of my dearest Son. »
At the end of September, after a month of absence, Marie appeared again, but on the other side of the valley, in Pindreau: 
“Go to Laus, you will find a chapel there from which good smells will exhale, and there very often you will speak to me.”

A valley chosen as a refuge for all
The next day, Benoîte goes to the nearby hamlet of Laus and finds the chapel of Bon-Rencontre thanks to the perfumes.
Inside, standing on the altar, Mary reveals her project to him ( her):
“I asked my Son for this place for the conversion of sinners 
and He granted it to me.”
She entrusts Benoîte with the mission of building a church
and a house for the priests so that they can receive and confess pilgrims.  
Covering the chapel of Bon-Rencontre, the church was built between 1666 and 1669. On the day of her blessing, Benoîte became a member of the third order of Saint Dominic, hence the title of “Sister Benoîte” which was given to her.

Benoîte, witness of mercy during 54 years of apparitions
From the spring of 1665, pilgrims flocked to Laus.
There will be around 130,000 in 18 months.
Benoîte fulfilled her ministry of welcome, prayer
and penance with them. Having received the gift of being able to read consciences, she sheds light on their conversion process and sends them to the priests who are amazed by the quality of the confessions.
Healings and conversions are very numerous. Entirely dedicated to her mission, Benoîte came to live full-time in Laus in 1672.  
For 54 years, Mary continued to appear to her to support her in her apostolate and continue her education.

I just read the first part of the link, and two different Vicar Generals and finally the Archbishop all believed the apparitions to be legitimate and put up a chapel/church on the spot.  There were miracles there that resulted in the conversions of some non-Catholics, etc.  So it seems legit.  Back in the day, I think that the Holy See rarely intervened in such matters at the level of the Universal Church unless they felt the need to step in and condemn it.  Endorsements by the Holy See were much more rare.  Everything about it seems legit to me ... despite it having been "sullied" later by the approbation of the current usurpers of the Holy See.  Her body was found incorrupt 80 years after her death.  In addition, the main fruit of the apparitions was the influx of 10s of thousands every year who were coming for Confession and not infrequently conversion to the Catholic Church.  I have a hard time thinking the devil would be motivated to set up something with such fruits.

The apparition received official recognition May 4, 2008. The local bishop was Jean-Michel Di Falco. 
Interesting apparition to say the least. Lots of faithful would go to confession.

I don't put much stock in the Modernists, but at the time two Vicar Generals and a couple of Archbishops all gave their approval, sent priests there to hear Confessions, allowed chapels to be built, etc.  So it had approval long before 2008.  It was shut down for some time by the Jansenists but then was re-opened by the next Archbishop to come along.  But, yes, the chief fruits were 10s of thousands going there for Confession ... unlikely to be the work of the devil, that's for sure.

Yeti: I only this morning found out the name of the apparition and the seer. When I originally heard about this around a month ago it was difficult to understand the man talking about it. And I almost didn't even look further into it for the exact things you mentioned but the story stuck with me because of who it was that said it and so I kept looking.

Ladislaus: I am amazed by the things I've read about it so far. The link I posted had way more in it than what I first was told about it. Or maybe he did say that, again I couldn't understand a lot of what was said. Lol. The story of her re: the protestants was the main point of why this man talked about it. I still haven't found anything corroborating that yet. Although I did find a link that appears to be definitive and at the least broad in scope about this apparition.

And she was declared a Servant of God by Pope Pius IX and Pope Leo XIII elevated the sanctuary to a minor basilica.

Gray2023: it is most definitely good to think about things in that way. I appreciate the response. Human respect can be hard to spurn at times. But if God is on our side, whom shall we fear? 😉

This apparition is very fascinating. A lot of intriguing things to look into…

Lastly, I remember from a long time ago on another thread far away buried in the threads of cathinfo Ladislaus said that V2 popes sometimes accidentally get some canonizations right… correct me if I just botched what you said. I have to agree with that sentiment re: canonizing Saints and approving apparitions. Not to say we just run with it. But Padre Pio is the example I think of re: this. And I think that very well can be said about approving this apparition. I don't put much stock into anything approved or promoted by modernists either but im glad I kept looking into this. 

I do have to wonder about this from another side though too:
How often do they approve apparitions or canonize “Saints” like Faustina of the Divine Mercy deception, in order to discredit similar but legitimate ones and conversely put weight behind similar but false ones?

Because one of the first things that made me almost stop researching Our Lady of Laus is that the visions lasted 54 years. It reminded me immediately of the Medjugorie Hoax.

This is a wild and crazy time to be a Catholic. 😤

Our Lady of Laus is a perfectly legitimate apparition in France. I have always heard about it in the SSPX, and the Resistance. It's just not well known in the English-speaking world. ☺️
