As some of you might have heard, the 92 year old Shrine of Christ the King went up ablaze last morning in Chicago. Please pray for the Shrine and the priests. They were in the middle of massive renovations and it looks like they have to start from scratch. The fire caused the roof to collapse which severely damaged the alter, tabernacle, and 17th century statue of Christ the King (see link for images). Cannon Talarico mentioned that, when he woke up from the alarms, he rushed to the church but the fires were too insurmountable to rush inside and clear the tabernacle. Thankfully, through the grace of Christ, the tabernacle was undamaged however, the Infant King was badly scorched and is missing an arm.
Irregardless of what you may think about the ICRSP, please keep this community in your prayers. This was a bustling Traditional community that was growing. Pray, also, that the current Ordinary, Archbishop Cupich, will be as generous as his predecessor, Cardinal George, in being diligent to helping this community repair this Shrine.
[If you are going to post a nasty comment, just place yourselves in the shoes of the faithful in Chicago and think what would happen to you if your own Chapel, Church, or mass center went up in flames]
