  • This is the story of St Regina, whose feast is today. Her mother died at her birth. Her father, a prominant pagan citizen, entrusted  her to a Christian nurse who baptized her.
when he learned of htis fact, the father flew into a rage and repudiated his own daughter. Regina wwent to live with her nurse and helped out by tending sheep.
In 251 at the age of fifteen, she attracted the attention of Olybrius, the prefect of Gaul. He sent for the girl and discovered that she was of noble race and of the Christian faith. He tried to have her deny her faith, though Regina refused and also spurned the proposal of marriage. thereupon Olybrius had her thrown in prison and had her killed when she refused to renounce her faith.
Her relics were kept with great devotion in hte abbey of Flavigny, where they have been rendered famous by miracles and pilgrimages.
