LOWELL, Mass. – The heart of St. Padre Pio will be on display in Massachusetts this week, marking the first time the religious relic has ever left its home in Italy.
The Sun reports (http://bit.ly/2cJfSVK ) that the heart will be first made available for viewing Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell.
The Rev. Paul Soper says honoring the relics of saints is ancient practice in the Roman Catholic faith.

Not sure whose heart is on display in Boston, but according to this article it is about 99.99% certain it is not Padre Pio's. If I recall, there is a Chiesa Viva dedicated to the satanic center "devoted" to Padre Pio too. Must be many reasons they go to all the trouble to spread disinformation about this holy priest.
Today is the anniversary date of Padre Pio receiving the holy stigmata, September 20th. His death anniversary is 9-23-1968.

Well that figures.
I would not go see even a saint's heart, any more than I would go to see a lung or brain - or liver or eyeball for that matter. The only possible exception might be if perhaps there was some heavenly fragrance or celestial light that emitted from it or something miraculous like that.
I don't understand why anyone would want to see it no matter whose heart it was.

And it was organized by the Archdiocese of Boston, an organization who should be looked at with all suspicion in pretty much everything. I don't trust them.

Yes, in 2002.
I don't ascribe necessarily to the position that you are not to use the word "Saint" for post-VII canonizations - especially in the case of Padre Pio.

The relic also will be on display:
* Wednesday, 7 p.m. to midnight, Mass and veneration at St. Leonard's Church in the North End;
* Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Boston in Braintree;
* Thursday, 7 p.m. to midnight, Cathedral of the Holy Cross.
"We wanted to not have all those days focused on the Cathedral, so we chose those sites," Soper said. "We've heard from a lot of people who are coming to all four of the sites where the relic will be. People from all around New England will be coming."

This is confusing. Is the author of the that CFN article totally wrong? This article shows he wasn't exhumed until 2008, and with photos!

Catholics have been venerating relics of saints for centuries. This is nothing new. It is surprising to me that there would be an objection to this practice on a traditional board.

More detail on the "empty tomb of Padre Pio" is in this article, also written by Mrs. Cillis. I believe she died a few years ago, a devout traditional Catholic and devoted to Padre Pio to the end. May she rest in peace.

Relics yes, a harvested human heart is not and never has been considered a relic in the traditional sense - the NO sense, yes, I can accept that, but not traditional. Bones, cloth with blood, strands of their hair or a piece of clothing they wore - those are some examples of relics. A whole human heart? No. Not even from Martyrs, and St. Pio was not martyred.
When I first read the post, "Novus Ordo" is the first thing that came into my mind. Holy Mother the Church simply does not harvest organs - or cut off ears, fingers and toes for that matter from Her saints.
I know I don't get out much, but seems obvious to me that there is something inherently very wrong with cutting out the heart of anyone, especially from a saint, even if for the purpose of a relic.

I was of the opinion that such a thing might have only occurred for certain martyrs, but I admit I made a mistake and am wrong. It seems whenever a body of one of the saints is exhumed and found to be incorrupt, they often go in and check the vital organs - I was reading where another saint's (can't remember who) brain and heart are incorrupt.

Interesting! I was only aware of the heart of St. Charles because my wife and I went to Rome for our honeymoon and actually stumbled upon the church where his heart is kept. It was quite the experience! I hope to make the trip again some day. It's sad to go there and experience the glory of the Church and to think about the state the Church is in today. :pray:
