Why in the world does one of the most bad ass saints not have a patronage nor a novena despite having a feast day in the Catholic Church. I'm not sure who is in charge of those things but something must be done!!!!!

Why don't you tell us about him. I couldn't find him in my Butler's Lives of the Saints or on the calendar.

Galgano is said to have led a ruthless life in his early years, but later abandoned it in favour of a pious hermitage in the place now known as Rotonda di Montesiepi. His mother, Dionigia, is believed to have reported that Galgano had two visions, both involving Archangel Michael: in the first vision the Archangel told Galgano that he was going to be protected by the Archangel himself. In the second vision, Galgano was following the Archangel and they arrived to the hill of Monte Siepi where they met the twelve Apostles and the Creator himself. After the visions, it is said that Galgano's horse refused to obey his orders and led him on top Monte Siepi where his vision happened. Convinced that this was a sign, Galgano decided to plant a cross. Since he had no way to make one of wood, he planted his sword in the ground. The sword is said to have immediately became one piece with the ground so that nobody could remove it.

St Galgano was a ruthless crusader knight who had an apparition of st. Michael the archangel on his way back from the crusades. The angel instructed him to amend his life, at which he replied that it would be easier for him to put his sword through solid rock than amend his life, and to prove his point he struck the rock with his sword, while in ecstasy the sword went right through to the hilt, and still remains in Tuscany Italy today. He decided to become a hermit in imitation of a local saint of the region, but had tremendous pressure from his family not too. His mother especially wanted him to get married and played matchmaker with the most beautiful woman of the entire region. Inclined he agreed to go visit her, but on the way his horse refused to take the road, at which point the horse carried him up a hill where he had an apparition of the Apostles and the Holy Family. At this point he built his hermitage and died the following year. The year he died is the year St. Francis of Assisi was born. He personally met the Pope and was gifted the relics of st. Sebastian, and he was the first time the Vatican officially investigated the life of a saint. An audio book translated from an earlier work, was done by a community called Militia Templi, and can easily be found on Google. It is worth taking the hour or so too listen to it. Experts agree that it is plausible that Galgano's sword is responsible for the legend of the sword in the stone which merged during the medieval period with earlier legends of King Arthur.

However he does not have a novena prayer, nor is he a patron saint of anything...the outrage!!!!

You said in the opening post that he has a feast day. When is it?

Also, is this all you know of him? Is there a book that contains more?
