I received this via e-mail today:
I received a phone call this morning from a friend, asking prayers for Fr. Daniel Cooper, SSPX. Fr. Cooper and I became acquainted back in 1998 after he had volunteered to be the chaplain for a girls' camp at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Pittsburgh. At the time, Fr. Cooper was stationed in Armada, Michigan. We corresponded a few times over the following years. Since then, Father was transferred to San Jose, CA, and then eventually to Veneta, Oregon, where he is now. He has always been one of my favorite people, a priest that I thoroughly admire; ever encouraging, generous and knowledgeable, yet possessing a truly humble disposition. I think the last time I saw Father was the last time I went on a 5 day Ignatian retreat -- in 2005, San Jose. He gave me one of his favorite prayer books, which quickly became one of my own favorites.
Well, apparently Father Cooper was in a serious bike accident last night. I don't know all the details, but from what I remember being told -- he was unconscious last night, but conscious enough today to call and ask for a priest. His brain is swelling, and IF he does live, he will need to have serious surgery on his face and will lose one of his eyes.
PLEASE KEEP FATHER COOPER IN YOUR PRAYERS! Pray that he will be able to accept God's will, whatever it is, in as perfect a manner as possible -- as he has inspired so many other people to do over the years.
And please pass this on to those you know who PRAY.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Becky Pawlowski
