I am not quite sure what point you are making with any of these quotes, but I'll just ask about this one.  Are you saying that it is better for Jєωs to go to hell than to convert and find salvation?

Jesus Christ died for all, even the stubborn Jєωs and He chooses to come from that nation.  He forgave them from the cross, and yes, they cursed themselves as a nation.  Yet, it is said that God will call them back near the end of the world, that is the Will of God and it will happen.
    Please pray for my soul.

Dreadful are the ends of a wicked race! ~ Wisdom iii.19

We order all our brother bishops absolutely to suppress the blasphemy of Jєωs in your dioceses, churches, and communities, so that they do not dare raise their necks, bent under eternal slavery, to revile the Redeemer.
    ~ Pope Gregory IX.

Ungrateful for favors and forgetful of benefits, the Jєωs return insult for kindness and impious contempt for goodness. They ought to know the yoke of perpetual enslavement because of their guilt. See to it that the perfidious Jєωs never in the future grow insolent, but that they always suffer publicly the shame of their sin in servile fear.
    ~ Pope Gregory IX

It would be licit, according to custom, to hold the Jєωs in perpetual servitude because of their crime.
    ~ St. Thomas Aquinas

The Jєωs, who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and have persecuted us, do not please God, and they are adversaries to all men, prohibiting us from speaking to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sin always: for the wrath of God has come upon them to the end.
    ~ I Thessalonians ii.14-16

The ѕуηαgσgυє is a godless house, a collection of wickedness, and God Himself has damned it.
    ~ St. Ambrose (PAC, p.642)

If anyone does not worship the Crucified One, let him be anathema and numbered among the deicides.
    ~ St. Gregory nαzιanzen

If any man love not Our Lord Jesus Christ, let him be anathema, maranatha.
    ~ I Corinthians xvi.22

Indeed, if any one of the clergy or faithful has taken a meal with Jєωs, it is determined that, as a corrective punishment, he is to abstain from Communion so that he may be reformed.
    ~ Council of Elvira

How dare Christians have the slightest intercourse with Jєωs, those most miserable of all men. They are lustful, rapacious, greedy, perfidious bandits -- pests of the universe! Indeed, an entire day would not suffice to tell of all their rapine, their avarice, their deception of the poor, their thievery, and their huckstering. Are they not inveterate murderers, destroyers, men possessed by the devil? Jєωs are impure and impious, and their ѕуηαgσgυє is a house of prostitution, a lair of beasts, a place of shame and ridicule, the domicile of the devil, as is also the soul of the Jєω.
As a matter of fact, Jєωs worship the devil: their rites are criminal and unchaste; their religion a disease; their ѕуηαgσgυє an assembly of crooks, a den of thieves, a cavern of devils, an abyss of perdition! Why are Jєωs degenerate? Because of their hateful assassination of Christ.
This supreme crime lies at the root of their degradation and woes. The rejection and dispersion of the Jєωs was the work of God, not of emperors. It was done by the wrath of God and because of His absolute abandonment of the Jєωs. Thus, the Jєω will live under the yoke of slavery without end. God hates the Jєωs, and on Judgment Day He will say to those who sympathize with them., "Depart from Me, for you have had intercourse with My murderers!" Flee, then, from their assemblies, fly from their houses, and, far from venerating the ѕуηαgσgυє, hold it in hatred and aversion.
    ~ St. John Chrysostom

  • I for one am almost afraid to see his answer.

Jesus Christ died for all, even the stubborn Jєωs and He chooses to come from that nation.  He forgave them from the cross, and yes, they cursed themselves as a nation.  Yet, it is said that God will call them back near the end of the world, that is the Will of God and it will happen.

Some of our great Church Fathers had a much different opinion, even our 'traditional' teachers water down historical teachings..

Whosoever does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is Antichrist, and whosoever does not profess the testimony of the cross is a devil, and whosoever perverts the saying of the Lord to his own evil desires ... is the first-born of Satan.
    ~ St. Polycarp of Smyrna

By their malice, the Scribes and Pharisees and princes of the Jєωs were a considerable hindrance to the salvation of the people, both because they opposed Christ's doctrine, which was the only way to salvation, and also because their evil ways corrupted the morals of the people.
    ~ St. Thomas Aquinas

Judaism, since Christ, is a corruption; indeed, Judas is the image of the Jєωιѕн people: their understanding of Scripture is carnal; they bear the guilt for the death of the Savior, for through their fathers they have killed Christ. The Jєωs held Him; the Jєωs insulted Him; the Jєωs bound Him; they crowned Him with thorns and dishonored Him by spitting upon Him; they scourged Him; they heaped abuses upon Him; they hung Him upon a tree.
    ~ St. Augustine

The Jєωs are enemies of God and foes of our holy religion.
    ~ Padre Pio

Jєωs are slayers of the Lord, murderers of the prophets, enemies and haters of God, adversaries of grace, enemies of their fathers' faith, advocates of the devil, a brood of vipers, slanderers, scoffers, men of darkened minds, the leaven of Pharisees, a congregation of demons, sinners, wicked men, haters of goodness!
    ~ St. Gregory of Nyssa

It is fitting for Jєωs to serve Christians, but not for Christians to serve Jєωs. On the contrary, the Jєωs, as servants rejected by that Savior Whose death they wickedly contrived, should recognize themselves in fact and in creed the servants of those whom the death of Christ has set free, even as it has rendered them bondmen.
~ Pope Innocent III ("Etsi Judaeos," a Decretal cited by Pope Benedict XIV in the above; same page).

We exhort you not to tolerate that Jєωs rule Christians and have power over them. For, to allow Christians to be subjected to Jєωs and to be delivered to their whims means to oppress the Church of God and to revile Christ Himself.
~ Pope Gregory VII (Epistle to King Alphonsus of Castile, PAC, p.641).

It is known that the Jєωιѕн people are polluted with wickedness, blasphemy, and the shedding of the blood of Jesus Christ so that their wickedness has no limit.
~ St. Felix of Toledo ("On the Condemnation of the Jєωs," Council XVII of Toledo, Spain, Canon No. 8; PAC, p.376).

Our ways of life and those of the Jєωs are utterly different, and Jєωs will easily pervert the souls of simple folk to their superstition and unbelief if such folk are living in continual and intimate intercourse with them.
~ Pope Alexander III ("Ad Haec," a Decretal, cited by Benedict XIV as above, p.137).

When Jєωs are admitted out of pity into familiar intercourse with Christians, they repay their hosts after the fashion of the rat hidden in the sack, or the snake in the bosom, or of the burning brand in one's lap.
~ Pope Innocent III (PAC, p.137).

  • I do not understand what these quotes have to do with conversion.  Could you please explain in your own words?

  • jaynek - being that your family members are Jєωs, it is understandable that you seek out a traditional prayer for conversion of the Jєωs.  However, you are likely to be disappointed.  You do not know what is required of a Jєωιѕн conversion.  Our Lord said something similar to st paul.  I do not remember the words.  But, it was something like "st paul does not know how much he will have to suffer for me"(meaning a lot).  You will first have to be a shining example for them, and then take them under your wings in that shining example.  Because, you will likely not be satisfied with turning your run of the mill Jєω family member into a run of the mill catholic.  Because, a run of the mill catholic in our day is a novus ordite which is not pleasing to God.  Because, the novus ordite is a judaized catholic(vomited out of gods mouth).  And, the last thing we need are more marranos.  That has been the cause of our problems.  Embrace the evangelical councils, and do not be satisfied with anything less for your companions(meaning your former Jєω family members).  Now, contemplate that.  How optimistic are you now?  You have a long road ahead of you.  And, that is the beauty.  We have our whole lives to work towards our end.  And, conversion of the Jєωs and sanctification of the church is a walk to calvary.  But, as a Jєωιѕн convert, you are called to that.

Outside of your situation, budude has much wisdom to offer.  Only at the crossroads will you find the accommodation you seek.  And, if that were everywhere present, we would be missing the sanctifying examples needed to survive such a scene.

  • Jayne, here are some saints who will be of interest because of a strong connection with the conversion of the Jєωs.

St Raymund of Peñafort, a great converter of the Jєωs, bade the Dominicans to learn Hebrew and Arabic to be able better to persuade and battle with the Jєωs. He established institutes at Barcelona and Tunis for the instruction of monks in these languages and was the pioneer of Hebrew and Arabic studies. He thus started a line of apologists who were no longer contented with collecting the passages of the Old Testament that foreshadowed the Trinity or prophesied the Messiah, but who refuted the rabbinical books and тαℓмυdic assertions.
    .

St John of Capestrano (28 March) Pope Nicholas V appointed him Inquisitor-General in Italy against Judaism and Islam, and he brought many to believe in Christ.  He did much good work in the affairs of the Eastern Church and brought back the Armenians to the Catholic Church.  He laboured 6 years in Germany and elsewhere, and his teaching and his miracles brought back to the Church countless heretics and Jєωs. He died in 1456 from the exhaustion he suffered in the defense of Belgrade at the age of 71. He is regarded as a martyr, for enemies of the faith twice succeeded in giving him poison, which was ineffectual.
    .
Prayer: O God, who by thy blessed servant John didst cause thy faithful people in the power of the most holy Name of Jesus to triumph over the enemies of the Cross: grant, we pray thee that, by his intercession, we may overcome the crafts and assaults of all spiritual enemies, and be found worthy to obtain of thee the crown of righteousness.
    .
    St Vincent Ferrer (5 April)
Two evils cried out for remedy in St Vincent's day: moral laxity and the scandal of the papal schism. He labored with all his strength to bring order out of chaos. While dangerously ill, he had a vision in which Christ and Sts Dominic and Francis instructed him to preach penance whenever and wherever he was needed, and he was miraculously cured.
He preached indefatigably, supplementing his natural gifts with the supernatural power of God, obtained through his fasting, prayers, and penance. He preached in England, Scotland, and Ireland and France. Thousands of people followed him from place to place. A team of priests dispensed the sacraments to Vincent's converts. Catechism was taught, hospitals founded, and faith that had all but perished revived. Though he spoke only Spanish, his followers heard him in their own tongue. His message was penance, the Last Judgment, and eternity. In Spain thousands of Jєωs and Moors were converted and requested baptism. His Treatise on the Spiritual Life is of great value to earnest souls. He always composed his sermons at the foot of a crucifix.

St James the Less, (11 May)

On the dispersion of the Apostles among the nations, St James remained as Bishop of Jerusalem, where the Jєωs named him “the Just”. He governed that church for 30 years before his martyrdom. Hegesippus, the earliest of the Church’s historians, has handed down many traditions of St James’s sanctity. He was a celibate Nazarite consecrated to God; he drank no wine and wore no sandals. He prostrated himself so long and so often in prayer that the skin of his knees was hardened like a camel’s hoof. He was indeed a living proof of his own words, “The wisdom that is from above is first of all chaste, then peaceable, modest, ready to listen, full of mercy and good fruits.” (James 3:17)

He sat beside St Peter and St Paul at the Council of Jerusalem. When St Paul later escaped the fury of the Jєωs by appealing to Caesar, the people took vengeance on James, and crying out, “The just one has erred!” stoned him to death. During his martyrdom in 62 AD he prayed for his persecutors in the same words pronounced by Jesus: “Heavenly Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.”
    .
Sts Cyril and Methodius, the Apostles of the Slavs (7 July)
Brothers born in Thessalonica in 827 and 826, in 860, the Byzantine emperor Michael III sent Sts Cyril and Methodius as missionaries to the Khazars, who had requested a Christian scholar to debate with the Jєωs and Muslims. They learned the Khazar language and taught them so that many Khazars laid aside their superstitions and were baptised.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Thank you for your advice. You have given me something to think about.  I have been planning to take a break from forums over Advent and this will be a good opportunity to consider what you have written.
I wonder why somebody would have down-voted it.

Thank you very much for these.  I had heard of them, but only knew about the connection with Jєωs in the case of St. Vincent.  This is very helpful.

  • Could someone on this forum point me to an article, a book or simply explain to me the difference between the biblical Jєωs (i.e. Hebrews or Children of Israel) and the Jєωs of today? In my humble opinion, these days, few to none of the Jєωs come directly from the line of Abraham. I think that most of them are the descendants of the Khazars (at least the αѕнкenαzι Jєωs) but how about the Sephardic Jєωs? I admit that most of my confusion comes from the fact that I spent most of my adult life in the conciliar sect and there the Jєωs were referred to as our "Older/ Elder Brothers in Faith" and there is no need to pray for their conversion (forget about the conversion of heart, that is not even an option) because they have their own path to salvation (courtesy of John Paul II's "teachings").

    Thank you and God bless.
