It is Matthew chapter 12.
But how can we reconcile these verses with the fact that some heresies are at variance against other heresies, and that many times, there are wars between bad and bad. (for example, between people of false religions and atheists)

His kingdom shall not stand. Do you think Christ spoke these words as if to imply that it shall?

When the wicked make war with each other does that mean Satan's kingdom is weakening?

But how can an evil man cast out demons?

Heresy is still heresy, even if they fight occ with each other.Both McCain and Obama were in Satan's camp, yet scirmished with each other......bringing up that voting for either is still in satans' camp got me a lot of heat at FE........

No, but He says these words in answer to those who accused Him of casting out evil spirits by satan's power. It seems that He wanted to refute them by saying that devil cannot cast any wicked sprit.

When the devil has hold of someone does he relinquish him voluntarily?

The devil's hold is not always (or usually) absolute, not in this world. Hence a person is almost always free to do the devil's will or God's will, and even though one may frequently do the devil's will, he does not yet belong entirely to satan.

Conflicting heresies do not lead people to the truth. If anything, they become more obstinate in their false beliefs, and continue to promote them more passionately. The devil doesn't risk losing any souls on account of this. On the contrary, he will gain more.

Wars between the ungodly do not lead people to the truth either. They are allowed by God as a punishment for sin.

That verse can be quite easily explained.

Satan destroys. That's what he does. He wreaks havoc and unneccessary destruction. To have heretics and atheists at war with each other brings him great enjoyment I imagine.

You see, if he were divided against himself, he would be building up in some places, and tearing down in others. That is what Christ means about Satan not being divided against himself. He NEVER builds up, but ALWAYS tears down. Whereever he goes, whatever he sees, he wants to tear down and cast into the fire.

He's doing a mighty fine job of it if he's getting his own "followers" to tear themselves apart. He wants to see the world burn, and that's what he's doing.
